What are some of the best compmonents??

To the OP. I think you set a budget and then go to a few car audio competitions and listen to the installs and find out what you like.

Some people love a crisp, detailed tweeter...some prefer a more neutral (relaxed) sound.

It's easy to list name brands...but in the end you need to actually hear the speaker before you buy...OR...it could end up being a very expensive mistake.

Personally, I love Focals....BUT...the tweeter is so detailed that it would drive me nuts...must be getting old. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

The new TN53K in the KRX2 K2 Power series are much easier on the ears than the TN52's in my current K2P's... go check em out!

jesus christ guys i just spent over 3k on a sub stage and amps n shit. now i gotta listen to you guys talk about 3k for a fornt stage. frick that. id like to get by with like maybe 6 hundred on mids n highs. not including teh amp. im gonna roll with only two speakrs in the front though. 6.5s baby

I went with the PPI 356cs for 139.99!
Don't know how you got them that cheap, but great set for the money. I heard the A/D/S speakers back in '89-'92, and they were supurb. They did nothing wrong. Great sound. But.....Directed bought them out, and I have yet to hear the new generation. I can only assume they still sound as they used to.

I like the DD componets...though I've ran many different high end componets in the past ...The DD 6.5's in my Jeeps dash have such a strong mid bass it sounds like I'm running mini subs up front....the highs are crisp and clear with a very smooth musical transparency that is pretty much untouchable in their price range...I'd compare them to some of the high end componet sets that I've ran in the past such as Boston Pro's....German made MB Quarts...Pioneer Rev's and many more....

the JBL 660gti components are the best money can buy at any price...period

they own the award for the "Best In Car Speaker System"

I got two pairs in my front stage on 1600w rms (400w rms x 4) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Ive heard some good stuff about the DDs. How do they compare to the XXX comps? Im running them now, but may switch to the DDs in the future. Also, whats the mounting depth on the mids? Nearly 4 inches is KILLING me on mine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

if you want loud skimp on the pro60's.

i had 1 set, then when i destroyed that set i got another set. why didnt i learn? my morel tempo 6's, although having a garbage cone on the mid, were exponentially louder than both sets of pro 60's ive ran. pro60's sound good but if you try to get them loud they like to stink. no distortion, just pure stink.

then again my definition of loud might be different than yours. i can say this though, off 250 dynamic watts, ive never heard a louder speaker than those morels. too bad the cones cracked and tore the first day off not anywhere near that power.

i really wish i would of picked up the ID comps right now...

$600 is about my budget for the front stage as well. Can't justify 3k on speakers.......however, $3k for a supercharger....that I can justify //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

What is yall's take on the Dual inlluminite speakers? I have a pair of 6x9's in my truck and they sound great. I also like them cause of the lights! ha
