i have had cops harass me before about stupid shit. They pull you over for anything and everything. Been pulled over in my jeep before because I had cut fenders and the cop said those were illegal. I have been pulled over illegal exhausts(too loud, doesn't exit behind cab, dumps off the headers and such), I have been pulled over for tint. The list goes on and on

Someone direct me somewhere where I can find out everything there is to know about your rights when pulled over by 5-0....stuff like what they can & can't do & such. So much of what I currently know has just been due to word of mouth. I need a definitive resource....
I got pulled over on my block today...on my street by an unmarked. you know....black guy with tinted windows & a cap on...bound to be suspicious.....

would've got three tickets....no seat belt, no insurance, & tint on front windows. only really ticket should've been the tint (which is only 50% btw...). The insurance...my dumb *** forgot to put the new card in the glove box...so what was in the glove box was the policy that expired 12/31/04. Then for the seat belt...I was on my street....trying to find a spot....so I took my seat belt off (which was on before I turned onto my block) which is just something I absentmindedly do when I turn on my block (along with rolling the windows up & turning down the system). I don't know bout you but parking w/ my seat belt is uncomfortable. and the thing was when I found a spot that I was gonna park in, they were right behind me on my *** so I couldn't even back up to get into that spot, so I was just like I'll go around the block & let them go....and that's when the pulled me over.

So basically, I've been pulled over 1 too many times (this was the 2nd this year...let's not even get into last year) & need to be on top of my game if it were to happen again. I mean I don't have a problem with 5-0 cause they do do what they're supposed to do most of the time....it's just those times when they wanna f*ck with you that gets me mad....and this was one of 'em.

That sucks. Did you give him an attitude? In California you're required to have insurance so really all he would have to do is call in your plate and see if you have current registration, if your registration is current you more than likely have insurance because they check for this when you go to get registered.

I've never been pulled over by an unmarked car. Better get rid of the tinted windows, as that might reduce the chances of being pulled over. Tinted windows make it look like you're trying to hide something.

Yow know, avoiding the police is about as easy as not getting your stuff stolen. I don't use tint, I do the speed limit, I keep the volume down in towns, etc. The cops don't even know I exist. I have never been pulled over once in 2 years.

keep your car clean of stickers and shit. low tint on the back windows only. keep your shit looking inconspicious, and dont bump loud round areas you KNOW are cop places. drive the speed limit too. last night i was going down a 55 that turns to a 40 - and people always go like 60 on the 40 zone, i was going 55 and i said shit, so i slowed it down, and like 30 seconds later a car was behind me, got to the light- and it was a cop //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blush.gif.99bc659ee2012b7d826165e26fb5eebe.gif

I disagree. It's not even about following the rules. If they want to f*ck with you cause you fit the stereotype (young black/hispanic guy), they will....I may be generalizing a bit much, but to me, it's much more about physical appearance & what those who fit a specific profile are likely to do. First question the peace officer said when he came up to me was do I have anything I'm not supposed to have. Then the usual license & insurance questions. He only tells me about the reason why he pulled me over in the first place was cause of no seat belt a minute before he let me go.

With the tint....50% is barely even noticeable. I've got 20% on everything else (except windshield). I know it's wrong & do accept responsibility if actions were taken against me for having it.

#1. was not playing music

#2. was looking for a parking spot...so was only going about 10-20mph

#3. no stickers except for a Gateway Chevrolet sticker on the trunk lid next ot the keyhole

i drive a 84 coupe deville lowered on 14x7 wires wheels flashy grill and loud *** beats.....one night around 11pm i was driving home from the pool hall i had my volume on 10 so not real loud well i see the cop going north and im going south he does a u turn as he passes me and flashes his lights. i drive for about a block till i have somewhere to pull over i put it in park one cop runs to my drivers side and one to the pssenger side both with guns drawn! they scream "turn off the car show us your hands" i step out they order me on the ground there are 6 cops and 4 cars there. they pat me down search my car and dont find a **** thing. i ask why they pulled their guns on me they said "pullover sooner next time" they knew they didnt haveanything so they literally sped off.

That's why you ask for a badge number, departement, get the vehicle number and a very descriptive explanation of what happened. Police CAN NOT, and I repeat NOT draw weapons on someone who is not threatening thier life.

You have to be 1) in the position to cause immediate harm

2) Have the capability to cause immediate harm

3) Be in the state to cause immediate harm to thepolice officer or anyone else around.

Drawing weapons on citizens when it is not needed is a very serious offense for police, I know this from my uncle who is a Texas State Trooper and from the guys in security I know over here.

Not all cops are *****es, so if you call and report it or threaten to press charges with a lawyer, somethign will be done. I got pulled over two times within 50 feet of each other. No tints, no loud music, had on seat belts, cant speed in 50 feet. And I didnt get a single ticket. I've been stopped so many times for nothing (driving while black). Now due to crack,shot-outs, slashing and stabbing I havent been stopped in awhile.

Yeah been pulled over for having expired stickers just didn't get to putting new ones on.

Got pulled over for not having a front license plate.

Got pulled over for having someone in the back of a truck with a camper shell but there were no seat belts back there.

I know tinted windows wise I always have been suspicious of this. But I guess it's a style thing.

My current car is totally factory except for the stereo so I haven't had the police always following me like they used to.

When you say got pulled over 2X with in 50 feet of each other, you are talking separate days?
