Someone direct me somewhere where I can find out everything there is to know about your rights when pulled over by 5-0....stuff like what they can & can't do & such. So much of what I currently know has just been due to word of mouth. I need a definitive resource....

I got pulled over on my block today...on my street by an unmarked. you know....black guy with tinted windows & a cap on...bound to be suspicious.....

would've got three tickets....no seat belt, no insurance, & tint on front windows. only really ticket should've been the tint (which is only 50% btw...). The insurance...my dumb *** forgot to put the new card in the glove box...so what was in the glove box was the policy that expired 12/31/04. Then for the seat belt...I was on my street....trying to find a spot....so I took my seat belt off (which was on before I turned onto my block) which is just something I absentmindedly do when I turn on my block (along with rolling the windows up & turning down the system). I don't know bout you but parking w/ my seat belt is uncomfortable. and the thing was when I found a spot that I was gonna park in, they were right behind me on my *** so I couldn't even back up to get into that spot, so I was just like I'll go around the block & let them go....and that's when the pulled me over.

So basically, I've been pulled over 1 too many times (this was the 2nd this year...let's not even get into last year) & need to be on top of my game if it were to happen again. I mean I don't have a problem with 5-0 cause they do do what they're supposed to do most of the time....it's just those times when they wanna f*ck with you that gets me mad....and this was one of 'em.

mrray (i think) made a post about things like this with car audio, like if an officer says that your car is too loud, then try to compare it to things like lawnmowers and such, cause those things can be heard for blocks.

sorry im not much of a help, good luck.

it happens, luckly though 2 of ur 3 tickets should just be "fix it tickets" (tint and insuance papers)

although the seat belt may be a warning or a 50-100 fine

thoughs are the cali laws //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

And better yet they just passed a law saying that the police can have their dogs search your car without any suspision of drugs or whatever.

yup yup, we were coming home from a club and we got pulled over cuz we were getting rowdy in the car, we were jaming to the 80's **** it!!!! oh well cops will always be dicks till u find a cool one

you wont win, they can pull u over for anything they got me before becuase they said i had an obstructed plate, but i didnt ..they seen a young kid with a few people in the car late at night and ****ed with me.
I got pulled over around 9 oclock one night. i was parked on the side of the road, and we were gonna head up into the woods to check it out cause i was planning on going offroading. I had 6 people in my jeep, but one kid ran into the woods right away. the cops came along while we were near my jeep and said "whats goin on here" and i quickly replied "we wanted to go play hide and seek. well he just told us to head home. We got on our way and started to drive for 50 feet, then he pulled me over again, took all of us out of the car and searched me and the car. ( i allowed him to search it cause i knew i had nothing bad in the car and i didnt want to get technical with him, cause i was still driving illegally (under 17 at the time). when i got back into my car everything was moved around. my wallet was under my seat, my subs were un-plugged, and he took out the fuse in my radar detecters wire and put it in the cup holder. ITs like they were 10 year olds rummaging thru someones stuff. all i have to say is, grow up.

all i know is when the next time a officer shines his light at my face, i'm gonna have my 2 million candle light flash light right next to me. i hate cops. one time i'm going to work, and i started around 2:30am, and i came early. so i was there at 2:15am and no one was there. at 2:25am a cop comes next to me, and shines his spotlight on my face trying to blind me while i'm fixing my e--brake cover. this ******* starts yelling at me "what the hell you doing here!" i had my work shirt on, and my name badge on" you'd think hes put 2 and 2 together. so later on that day, i'm getting off work, and i'm showing my friend i need new shocks, so i push down on my trunk, and my car starts bouncing. and the same cop came back. this time he was nice, he was saying you need new shocks. you can loose control of your vehical in low and fast speeds so becareful.

Go to your closest government office, dmv, something like that and ask to see your local laws and photocopy them. Be polite and ask to speak with an officer if you want, feel free to ask questions. Your library should have somewhat the same documentation.

If you feel you are being harrassed, go to the police station and file a complaint every time something happens...and remember the officers name (and badge number if possible). If something serious were to happen you would have every harrassment account filed legally and in print, documented by the police station itself.

A similar situation happened to me awhile ago, except it was with my neighbor instead of a police officer.

See this was what I was trying to avoid...I've visted the Illinois General Assembly page of & laws & stuff, but for someone not familiar with legislative procedures & the lingo, I find the resources hard to follow. I do find myself reading my brother's Criminal Justice book (which is just filled with various cases), and the most important parts, the reasons why a person (or the gov't) was guilty or innocent, is hard to understand.

So I guess I'm looking for a common-person's resource....e.g., a third party resource. Not dumbed down persay, but in simpler language...lol. More specifically, something with a title like "The 16-28 aged Black Male in the Hood's Guide to Law". I don't want some "F*ck 5-0" BS....just an informative guide. The Fourth Amendment aka Search & Seizure, I'm most interested in.

Thank god im in a smaller city. Local cops here dont really care. A lot of young guys. Its like they let the youger people go, but go after the older people.

you guys are opposite. the cops here in the small towns have nothing better to do then pull people over. when i used to live in the city, they had more important shit to worry about. i got pulled over once because the cop said the frost on my windsheild wasn't cleared good enough. i've been pulled over 4 times this past year.

yeah good luck with that. i had all the cops in town harrasing me back when i was 16, when i went to the lawyer they told me that they could probably win the suit for harrasment, but after that i would probably have to move to a different city or bad things would probably "accidently" happen. i just got a different car, and laid low, once they got someone else to harass they'll forget about you.

You could go to a lawyer and have him find you something, but if you got anything close to an ******* he would charge you an armand a leg for even that. But look into them, they are a good resource, theyhave to use things like that ALL THE TIME.
