What amplifier would you buy upto 150$?

Hey n2audio, how do you know that those tusnami amps are the same board as a Lanzar 1200D? Do you have pics or anything to back it up, im really interested in this because I know the 1200d's from Lanzar are pretty good and I know that Tsunami is a whole different company so its kinda got me skeptical.

They may be entirely different companies, but there are a limited number of amp mfg's out there. If 2 different brands call a mfg and request an amp with similar specs the mfg. might ship the same board to be assembled into more than one different brands shell.

Have a look see:

Lanzar

Tsunami

Wow n2audio, thats pretty convincing with those pics given that that second amp there is in fact a tsunami and if it is then by god they are the identical amps and I would trust tsunami to have good stuff, even more than lanzar so I guess those two types of amps are really good. Hmm...I think I might save up 150 bux and get one of those tsunamis since theyre the same board as the 1200D and ive already seen charts from I think it was carsound on the 1200D and it done what it was rated for.

Ok so I read that thread and from they were saying and what you said, then it looked like that tsunami amp and the 1200D had problems and lots of them. What were those problems? And do they still have them because im really interested in buying one of these now since I have a job now and a friend whose wanting to sell me two like new tsw-125dvc Premier subs which I can wire down to 1 ohm to get the 1000 watts rms.

I bought a 1200D from SD in the fall of '01 when they were pretty new to the market. The 1st one I had quit working after about 1 hr. of use. I returned it to SD for replacement. The replacement amp quit working and let out the white smoke in about 3 hrs. of use.

I contacted Lanzar and got a LOT of good info from Dominic - I even posted one of his e-mail replies on SD a while back and swapped a couple posts with him.

In a nutshell he said the original and 2nd versions of the 1200D had tech. issues. The first one was a noise problem which led to a redesign. The 2nd was a problem driving low impedance loads which resulted in a change of mfg.

About the same time I got this info from Lanzar I recieved my 3rd 1200D which came directly from Lanzar's stock - it was solid. I used it for about 6 mo. then sold it on ebay and my buyer said it was doing great.

Having said all that - IMO the recent 1200D's and gxa1000d's are quality, affordable amps. To me, the fact that the ones at audioblowouts are refurbs is reassuring that any problems the amp may have had have been resolved in the refurb process.

I'm thinking about getting one to run a couple 10's in my boat - either that or a reman. Vibe 430 for $120.
