what amp wont overheat and shut down if treated right. i had a punch 700s on 2 hx2 12's@4 mono amp got very hot all time and shut down. i have a punch 500x at 2 ohm stereox4 and it never even got hot (granted it ran mids and highs not subs) i am switching to a class D. i heard class d runs more cool. what are the chances ill have the same shut down problem? will have 4 gauge ground and power and big 3 done by install. and i am not a bass boost guy.I had it installed and never used it so i doubt i will use this one either. and my gains will most likely be around 1/2. i am talking about a hifonics 1500d

Then you probably didn't run it correctly //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Or you had it mounted in a horrible location

Depends on too many variables.

and my gains will most likely be around 1/2.
How can you say that without even having the amp installed yet?!?

anywho. listen to mr squeak. if you dont abuse your equipment. they will last quite a while. overheating is usually a result of pushing your stuff a little further than it was designed for.

because the hifonics is about 900@1 and my punch was only 700@4 so at 1/2 or 3/4 i should get about 650-700 ish,i hope

i wasnt unhappy with the punch power just the shutting down.

thats why i want an amp that wont be maxed out to give me 700ish watts. the punch did all it could and i think i can get the same sound without the heat with the hifonics because its 1500max not 700max all i want is 700ish. the amp i get has to run 2 rlp-d4's one day also
