What Amp TO Get?

NY, there is a rule of thumb. You first buy the speakers/subs then you buy an amp according to the speaker's needs. So you choose the type of subs you want to use, then you look for the amp that will power them. Of course you have to look at the impedance(ohms) the sub will put on the amp. The impedance changes whenever you ad another subwoofer powered by the same amp. I've provided a website from JL Audio, it's a tutorial on wiring subwoofers.

If you let me know what brand of sub(s), the model and how many you plan on using, I might be able to help you find an amp.

Okay.

Those are rated for 750w RMS but will easily take 1kW if you're careful.

So you'll be wanting an amp that makes 1,500-2,000w.

At which resistance load you need that wattage will be dependent on whether you buy Dual 4 Ohm L7s or Dual 2 Ohm L7s.

Thanks for the compliment on #7 Prowler, I appreciate it.

The Kicker 06S12L7-2 12" 750 watts RMS Dual 2 Ohm Solo-Baric L7 Subwoofer can handle 750 watts RMS(root means square) of continous power. Peak power, what that is is what the speakar can handle in one short burst of power of one second or less, not continously, otherwise it will blow. Sometimes speaker manufacturers display the peak power rating to make the speaker look more powerful than it really is.

Okay, so you wanna get two of the 12" L7's. If you wire them in series [connecting the two voice coils of each driver in series (+ to -) and the drivers themselves in parallel (+ to +)] they will make a 2 ohm load for the amp. I recommend the Rockford Fosgate T15002 which is rated at 1500 watts rms x 1 channel @ 2ohms on bridged mode. The Kicker L7's cost $240 each and the R.F. amp costs $770. I also suggest you purchase one 1 Farad capacitor and one 1/2 Farad capacitor. It's recommended to use a 1 Farad capacitor for every 1000 watts of power.

I heard great things about both sundown and cadence. I own a Cadence ZRS-8 and its works flawlessly. I would imagine that the ZRS-9 would be similiar. My ZRS-8 doesn't even get hot when playing at my full volume. IMO it is a great amp for the money.
