What Amp do I need to supply my 2 subs?

So I was given the wrong information by the local car audio shop.

I am new, so I am sorry for posting the infamous "What do I need" build.

I have two of these subs:

Amazon.com : Alpine SWA-10S4 10" 750 Watts Peak / 250 Watts RMS 4-Ohm Bass Line Series Car Subwoofer : Vehicle Subwoofer Systems : Electronics

AND

This is the amp they sold me and it overheats to very easily, and I mean overheat to burning temperatures. So this amp definitely gets overheated.

Power Acoustik RZ5-2500D Razor Series 2500W 5-Channel Class-D Amplifier

My friend has the same 2 10" subs and his hit so much harder than mine.

I'm wondering what kind of amp I would need to be able to fully use my two subs full potential.

Thank you!

Your amp puts out 60 watts of subwoofer power at best. So solution to that would be a properly designed ported box. Or a T-line enclosure. If you have it in some random pre-built box, its gonna sound weak no matter what.

brands like power acoustik, pyle, boss, pyramid, autotek, lanzar(non opti lines) crunch etc... all lie on their power ratings, keep that in mind whenever you purchase car audio in the future.

****, my amp is in a pre built box, so you guys advise that I get a new amp and a custom box? What exactly do I ask the shop to design when asking for a custom box.

Any advise on a shop nearby Riverside, CA?

Did they hook up the amp up to your mids and highs as well? I don't know any other reason they would sell you a 5 channel. As far as your friend's setup being louder it's a lot more than just the subs. Type of vehicle, enclosure, and power matter quite a bit.

Any 500-1000W amp from a reputable company will do the trick. The ppi mentioned should do well. How much are you looking to spend?

I would rather just have a shop build it because I don't have any experience at all with making a box.

Well I already spent a good amount on my car and other upgrades. So I would just have a good $300-$400 to make my subs hit harder.

I don't know if its hooked up to mids and highs, how do i check that?

Would this be a good enough amp? (linked from your previous post)

Precision Power BA2200.5 (ba22005) 1100W Black Ice Series 5

That's the same quality as the amp you have. Heck it might be the exact same amp

Oh, okay. Forget that brand then,

any specific recommendations? I'd appreciate that.

And the amp is not in the box, I told them not to strap the box down so I can remove the subs out of the car whenever I need to carry luggage in my car

I didn't see the ppi suggested was a 5 channel. Where do the wires coming out of the amplifier outputs go? If they just go to your subs then you only need a sub amp and your shop gave you the wrong type of amp completely considering your needs. If you're just powering subs you would be better off to find a monoblock. PPI makes ok stuff; there's better, but unless you want top of line gear it should work. As far as amp getting hot what do the gains look like? any chance you could take pictures of your power, ground wires/point, and amp settings. What's the dimension of your box? Is it ported or sealed?

I figured he was powering mids and subs since he had a 5 ch amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif
