What About My Other Speakers!?

I have a 2002 VW Jetta that came with factory 8-speaker premium sound. I recently received my wiring harness and am awaiting my Alpine 9813 Head-Unit. I noticed, on the wiring harness, that there are 4 pairs of wires corresponding to four speakers. How, then, will the headunit send a signal to my other four? Does it automatically filter according to frequency or something?

[bill Lumberg]Yeaaaaaaah....ummm....eight speakers...um yeaah....that might be a little too ummm.....much....yeaaaaaaah [/bill Lumberg]

But seriously.....you're going to need an external amp if you wanted to power all 8 of them...I suggest you just use 4 and power them with the HU and say fu*k the others....

Actually those four leads are not to speakers. We basically have the same audio systems in our cars (Bose or not). Those are high-level factory amp inputs. Each pair goes to an amp which feeds the speakers, although not exactly. You need to find an adaptor to use those inputs somehow. I'm still researching the easiest way to do it and still use the factory amps. Good luck and let me know if you find anything out.

Tell me if I'm correct- component front speakers (4), 6.5" rear speakers in the doors (2), Factory sub (1), and center channel speaker (1) for a total of (8) right? If not, then I could be wrong about your system.
