I have 2 Kicker S12L7's and i want something louder and better SQ. My firend suggested a buch of 8 inch subs and i like that idea. I have around 5-6cu.ft. So do you guys have any idea of what kind i should buy and what amps? Remiber i want it lounder than my L7's and better SQ. Which 8 inch subs will do that? I would also like to run 2 amps so i could make half the subs hit than at a different time have the other half hit. So plz a lil help would be nice.

Thx guys

been pondering on what 8'' subs to run myself... i'd suggest the old hx2 8'' subs (not made anymore so you could probably find them on ebay) or one of these 2 subs (depending on your price range):

first link is the better woofer of the 2. very beefy 8's. i'll have a pair of the second link 8''s on the way soon. i'll let you know personally how they sound when i get them. from what i've collected they have OK sq, but they get descently loud for 8's...

This is the most retarded idea I have ever read. And second it's impossible. You can't get the bass to separate signals in any way shape or form. And why would you want to? It's a ridicules idea...

Also how do you expect to find 8's that are louder than 12's? You will have to run at least 4 and they will need a lot of power.

I can see 6-8 SS RL-i8's getting louder if setup properly. I believe DD also has some beefy 8's out right now...

I said i want to run around 8 8inch and yes its possible using 2 amps (or so i ahve been told)

now how bout 8 RE RE's?

How are you going to seperate, then delay a signal coming from the same source for subs ? It's done electronically for mids, but how you gonna do it for subs ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

No you said no such thing...

No it's not. You were told wrong. And it's a horrible idea...

Probably will be close to the out put of the L7's but I doubt much louder, and zero increase in SQ will probably be achived.

But it does not sound like you want SQ anyways.

so this for surely WONT work????? And if not why wont it i was told if i buy 2 amps and have half on one and half on another i would just have to switch the phase or something like that and they would hit at different times....

BTW any idea where i could get 8 RE's at??

Switching the phase does not delay the signal. It reverses it. Don't listen to who ever told you that rubish...

http://www.reaudio.com you lazy bastard. I really hate n00bs...

Seems to me if you ran half out of phase you would have some serious Cancelation issues. Thus defeating the purpose of your entire project //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Worst. Idea. Ever.

The two subs would essentially cancel each other out. They wouldn't "hit" at different times.....but rather, while one set of subs were excurting outward, the other set would be excurting inward, and then vise versa.

Net effect? Substantially decreased output......

Go ahead and try it if you wish. But it will sound horrible and have very, very little audible output. But please, do a little research and read up on absolute phasing: http://www.betteraudio.com/geolemon/Phasing/Phasing.htm

Isn't this the idea behind active noise cancellation ?? Take the incoming ambient noise, invert 180 degrees out of phase to cancel the noise ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yeah, if you've got at least $1000 to drop on some subs!

I say the RE 8's would be a good choice. I think the kicker compvr's could probably get a little louder but the RE's might have a slight edge in the SQ department. But with the right install, the kicker's would be better IMO. If it were me and I had the money, and was set on running eight 8" woofers, I would go with the kickers.

But, it also depends on how much money you have. How much are you looking to spend on these 8 subs?
