What 2 channel amp

I am working on a pair of DIY bookshelf speakers and need some suggestions on how to power them. I need something that is 4 ohm stable and has roughly 125-150 watts RMS output per channel. It will be only for music, no movies. I am unsure of the preamp I will be using, but it will probably be a Rotel RC-1070 (if somebody has other suggestions, throw them out there too).

I would like to keep it under 400-500 bucks and I am not opposed to buying used.

I do like the Rotel, and it shouldn't have an issue with running at 4 ohms. However, you might want to look into something Pioneer Elite wise or even try to find a used Bryston or something like that.

I would go with the Rotel however......

you're years ahead of yourself if you're already looking into Rotel as a home audio "noob".

it doesn't look like any of the Rotel stuff is 4 ohm stable. the guys over at http://www.avsforum.com would be able to give some great suggestions.
