Finally getting a organized decision on what I want,it takes soo long to look at this stuff and decide if it's what I want or not. So far, I'm going with the new Alpine CDA 7897 Fantomface HU, a JL 500/5 5-channel amp, Focal Polykevlar K2 6 1/2 components for the front doors, and that's all the further I've gotten. I still need to decide on a SQ sub(s) and rear fill 6x9's,probably something not too expensive.

For SQ I would go with one 12" Infinity Perfect sub.

If I am reading your amp correct, you have 25w rms going to the rear speakers. For that I would go with Pioneer 6 x 9's. Pioneers outshine lots of higher quality speakers at lower power levels. My old Pioneer 6 x 9's actually outplayed my Infinity Kappa's till I put 75w into them, lol.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Wes, that's exactly what I was thinking. Now the dillema is whether to box it or stick in on the deck. The deck gives access to the interior, but the box probably gives a bit more 'umph' I would imagine. I would think clarity wise though the deck would be best. If I boxed it, where should I get the box? Any ideas? I'd like it smaller but still able to get a good feel of it inside.

Aud,got your email. I think I've found a place to buy the JL for around $550 or so.

Oh,and also a screwup from my initial post....I'm going with the K's, not the K2's. Will there be any diff in sound betwixt the two?? I wouldn't think so. It appears the only diff is the pointy cone and about 20watts.

Box it? I hope your talking about the Pioneers. You can run those straight on the rear deck because any "umph" you gain from boxing them would be cancelled out by your subs.

actually im pretty sure he was talkinga bout teh sub....

well if you have a WELL sealed trunk, it can acty as your box,...... think about taht....

a big box,. but a box nonethe less....

of course you could always box off the back portion of your trunk and turn taht into a nice sealed box for you perfect....

if you are going to be puttin the subs in the rear deck use an aperiodic membrain and have patience and get tips not for the faint of heart to try...i recomend a box and have a professional build it special for you....

Well,I stopped in at Circuit City tonight for a look see,and they had a two for one deal on subs. The guy led me to the Alpine Type 'E' 10" subs. Look alot like the perfects, only diff is they handle 600 watts and not 1000. Had them in a sealed enclosure, two subs. And it sounded sweet! I didn't hear any flopping or messiness,it was just pure clean sub. I'm guessing the 'E' series is exclusive to CC because I can't even find em on the Alpine site. Even a search of Yahoo and Altavista didn't turn up the E Types. I'm guessing they're same as the S types. Price for two in a 26x12x12 carpeted enclosure with a 3 yr warranty deal was $225. Whadya think?

Now I'm back and forth on whether to get the Diamond Audio S600s 6 1/2 components or the Focal Polykevlar K's. I'm going to try to head to Chicago maybe tommorrow,if they're open, and get a listen on these. From what I hear, these are two excellent speakers.
