welding wire

There is nothing wrong with it, but the quality of welding wire doesn't seem to be as good as car audio designed wire. Usually the welding wire has fewer strands, and a bigger jacket, so it'll be harder to bend, and the AWG rating will be slightly over rated.

Welding wire should be spot on on the AWG chart if you buy from a reputable company.. You might/will get a thicker jacket since your going from a car to a way harsher enviroment. Its possible for the wire to corrode faster too since its not OFC. It all depends on you enviroment where you live though. Lots of welding wire is plenty easy to bend but I have no experiance with it outside of welding.

x2. The 1/0 from Welding Supply has just under 1000 strands, so it is pretty flexible. It actually has more copper by mass than most of the premium car audio brands like Stinger. The only two I've found with more are ED eNetic and Knu Kollossus. The strands aren't tinned, so if you care about that. look elsewhere.
