Welding Wire for Big 3??

Can I use welding wire for doing my big 3 upgrade? I have a bunch of the Orange Ultra-Flex 1/0 gauge and was just curious if it's a good idea or not.

As I was searching, I was reading posts about welding wire possibly oxidating over time??

The only reason I wouldn't use welding wire for the big 3 is because of the flexibility of it.

I'll be doing my big-3 in hyperflex soon enough.

as long as the wire can bend how you need it to bend, go for it

It's flexible enough. I have both types of wires in my truck. While I prefer something along the lines as hyperflex, welding wire does the job.

I'm not sure if "welding wire" refers to a specific brand/source or not. I had 1/0 wire that was made for use in welding, had only ~150 strands, and was terrible to use in a car.

I'm not sure of the strand count or awg of the strands, but what I have is basically the same stuff that you would buy from weldingsupply.com It's not tinned like hyperflex, but does have a really soft black jacket.

Just use it and make it bend to your liking It may just be a little harder to work with but it will work

for under the hood my only concern would be thermal resistance of the insulation.

If it's designed to be kicked around on a shop floor there might not have been a lot of attention given to heat resistance.

Welding wire gets VERY hot. Dont worry about that. Weld for 15-20 minutes, then grab the wire by the machine. LOL.

It has been under my hood for a long time w/o problems.
