Welcome Home

guess nobody here likes basketball? well i'll talk to myself.

i hope webber can give the pistons the same lift rasheed did in 04. the pistons need more scoring and hopefully webber can give that, even though he has turned into more of a jump shooter

with webber the pistons now have 5 starters who can knock down peremiter shots. also webber is a very good passer as is rasheed up front so the pistons will pose tough matchups on their opponents. webber's game is similar to garnetts, doesn't put up garnett type numbers, and that bodes well with flip saunders running the team.

i dot see it doing anything, the magic and him were so close to having a deal, i was praying it didn't go through...i mean hes a cheap sign, but hes a horrible sport to have on your team...guess it wont matter with Detroit, they have a few guys who are bad locker room personalities so, it just works there, not like Orlando with young impressionable kids...

Nazr, Dice Man or Davis is gone, question is which one?

I stopped caring for Webber after the Michigan State incident, he lost my respect so, I could care less about him...

and I cant wish you and the Pistons good luck, cause the Magic are in the same conference....

i dot see it doing anything, the magic and him were so close to having a deal,(no they weren't. webber wanted to play with detroit from the begining and orlando wasn't on his list) i was praying it didn't go through...i mean hes a cheap sign, but hes a horrible sport to have on your team...guess it wont matter with Detroit, they have a few guys who are bad locker room personalities (who? the only one close would be rasheed. please name these bad lockeroom personalities) so, it just works there, not like Orlando with young impressionable kids...

Thinking It Over

Jan 15 - Pistons president Joe Dumars wrote in an e-mail Sunday that the team is still negotiating with Chris Webber. -- Detroit Free Press

# Webber, according to his agent Aaron Goodwin, had spoken to the coaches, general managers and players from the four teams left on his wish list -- Detroit, the Lakers, Dallas and Miami. He finally talked to Lakers coach Phil Jackson on Saturday night and had only Mavericks coach Avery Johnson left to talk to Sunday.

Goodwin said the Pistons continue to offer Webber everything he is seeking -- a starting role on a team with a legitimate chance to win a championship.

"There has been nothing that has turned him against Detroit," Goodwin said. "Detroit has been professional and aggressive in their pursuit. They have let Chris know how badly they want him, and that's been from Joe (Dumars) to Flip (Saunders) and down to the players." -- Detroit News

# Chris Webber and Phil Jackson finally talked, but there are no answers to where the free agent will end up.

"It was a good conversation both ways," Jackson said of his Saturday night chat with Webber. "He's got a decision to make. He didn't give me any indication. I just told him that he could help us ?. He wants significant minutes. I said, 'I don't know what that converts to, but you can have an influence on the team.' That's all any player can really want." -- Los Angeles Times

# The Lakers can offer Webber, who will turn 34 on March 1, a contract for the prorated veteran's minimum ($1.178 million for the full season) and would have to release a player to make room on the 15-man roster.

"He looks to be moving OK," Jackson added. "He had a foot problem this year. That's what we were curious about, obviously. But he says he's doing really well." -- Los Angeles Daily News

# Reports had listed the Pistons as Webber's heavy favorite, but Webber spoke with members of each of the four organizations, including Riley, before making a final assessment. According to Jackson, the biggest factor in Webber's decision will be his role with his new team.

"He just wants to feel like he has an important part of the team," Jackson said. -- Miami Herald

lmao bad locker room personalities //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif where do you guys come up with this? btw rasheed is known throughout the league as being a great teammate, people take his technicals as he is some *** in the lockeroom which isn't the case, according to maurice cheeks and many trail blazers.

you're an idiot

you're an idiot
i agree. i really want to hear about these bad lockeroom personalities. the only bad apple they had was ben wallace and now he's *****ing over in chicago. never heard anything but good things about rip, billups, tayshaun, mcdyess, hunter etc

wow you have no clue what you are talking about, do you? i'm gonna correct all your inaccuracies here.
aside from me accidentally putting Michigan state instead of just Michigan you and smd are both dumb b*tches and you cleary have ZERO idea what your talking about...f***ing i keep up on NBA basketball arguably better than anyone around here....

"Agent Aaron Goodwin said Webber had ruled out the Knicks -- although he might reconsider over the summer -- and was considering the Orlando Magic and Sacramento Kings only as fallback options. The four primary contenders were Detroit, Miami, the Lakers and Dallas. ESPN.com"

"Coach Brian Hill said the Magic are no longer in the chase to acquire free agent F Chris Webber. "From all we're hearing, it looks like he's going to sign with Detroit," Hill said. General Manager Otis Smith had explored signing Webber, who was waived by the Philadelphia 76ers after they bought out his contract. Orlando was close to striking a deal on Friday morning, however Detroit made a last ditch effort to woo the 33 year old veteran. Orlando Sentinel"

"He has repeatedly pronounced his intrigue of playing in cities like New York, Detroit, Dallas, L.A. and Orlando, but his past track record with the bigger markets of Golden State and Washington isn't exactly spotless. We will see if he has matured enough to handle the pressure that comes with the increased attention. Webber is also known for having a spotty team ethic and has been looked upon as a detriment to youthful players in the past"

oh snap...

and you can say what you want about sheed, no one aside from Detroit would be him in the locker room with the likes of a Dwight Howard, Chris Bosh, Bogut, Jefferson etc. and if they did they KNOW they would be risking a lot...Sheed was the major cancer i was referring to, CANCER, YES CANCER....

im soooo sorry for the Michigan State thing however, that was a total f up on my part...1000 apologies...thanks for correcting ALL of those...go get your shine box...and read a newspaper...

how was that close to signing with the magic? please who are these bad lockeroom personalities? what proof do you have that rasheed is a bad lockeroom prescense? or are you just basing that on his technical fouls? what about the priase rasheed got from his former teammates, and maurice cheeks and larry brown?

3 different articles pubpished at 3 different times, in sports there are always rumors circling..

HOWEVER on Tuesday night on TNT WEBBER himself said that Detroit was not really in the mix and HE ever called out David Aldridge for reporting that there was a chance of it happening because apparently it wasn't even a factor at that time, i have it on my DVR, he said that he was intrigued by Orlando he really wanted to work with Dwight Howard...

Orlando worked hard on a dealing with him, if you read the papers and check a few press sites, you can see different clips about it, they were closer than anyone else NOT named Detroit, even from his agent, who is the same agent as Dwight Howard and Carlos Arroyo BOTH of the Orland Magic...

do you want me to say im happy for you? ok, im happy for you...Detroit got him, he will be an upgrade, how much? not too much i don't think...depends on where his heart is, he just pulled a Vince Carter and T-Mac in Philly (great sportsmanship by the way) so hopefully for Detroit he comes out swinging...if not? no big deal hes a cheap vet with great IQ...no loss

again Sheed is the locker room problem, Larry Brown? lol yea I trust that guy...any way there are various GM's who have spoken negatively about Sheed, you must have the bias because you have only heard the positive about him from certain people and your magnifying that, its not like you know for a fact, and again there have been discussions from many players and officials saying that with the blazers' hawks and pistons hes not a great guy to have in the locker room....I have no bias, and wouldn't even mind sheed on my team if I could guantee he wouldn't cause trouble...screw technicals, if i played id probably double his...

i guess since rasheed is such the clubhouse devil, he wouldn't ***** and moan when flip benched him 2 games in a row. sure he draws some technical fouls but rasheed is a very unselfish team player, almost to a fault. he is always willing to dish the ball, he never complains about minutes or how many points he's getting, he just goes out and plays.
