Ways to protect subwoofers from external damage (scratches, abrasions, holes etc...)

I've had an idea of late to create some sort of protective boundary around the exposed area of my subwoofers. They like most woofers did not come with a grill, and

though my trunk is empty most times, there are times where I have to put other things within like tools, groceries, anti-freeze, oil, etc. Does anyone here have an idea

on what I could to protect the exposed parts (gasket, dustcap, cones) from scratches, dings, abrasions, or holes. I was thinking something along the lines of a wire mesh

or net around the perimeter. Any ideas appreciated. Right now the subwoofers I have are spotless, like to keep them that until I sell them. Thanks.

It's the obvious choice, though most grills, at least the ones I have seen seem to be designed more for design than actual ability to protect the

subwoofer from damage completely. Even If I spent money on a grill it seems like I would like to protect the grill from damage as well. A lot of

safe handling comes into play, that's why my current set of subs look like new, but if I can, ultimately I'd prefer to avoid the day when I make

a mistake.. I think some sort of wire mesh, or custom net would work. I've never seen anyone do it, so just looking for a few ideas to start.

They make cheap metal grills for subs that can withstand normal stuff boucing in the trunk. It wouldn't take a hit from a toolbox or something heavy... If they did get scratched or bent beyond repair, they're cheap enough to replace. Usually about $10

^^^ I'm using some like that on my 8"-ers in my doors. They are actually pretty nice grills for the price, but not as thick as the ones I posted above.

I have used these before/type, and at times my subs would still bottom out/excurt /hit the grill..The way I found to make it work rt,was to get 12s for my 10in woofers, and get a set of 3/4in MDF rings to bring them out further,and had 0 issues after that..worked perfect, and looked great as well
