Wattage for Perfects - What would be best?

I bit the bullet and bought some Infinities today (couldn't find Eclipse 8700 for under 500 Canadian). I've heard both arguements, don't over power them, and, they can handle way more than what they list as RMS. Which one is correct? What would be ideal?

I never like to pour on more watts then my speakers are ratted at. Go with a 300-400 watt amp, there really isn't THAT much of a difference between 50 watts anyways.

I have first hand experience here.. My boy is running 600 watts each to a pair and they arent anywhere near their limits..the amp however is at that point.

i have 2 jl 500/1 going to 2 perfects and they have handled them just fine.........and i listen loud alot so they have had the full 500 to them many times
