So !

i thought, why not see what the good old MA Audio HK-4000D pumps out.

Well, i got 135.8Vac maximim from my "testing".

According to this wattage calculator:

at 14.4Vdc the amp is supplying 6K RMS of power.

Now, is this correct ?

Im in shock and awe...but id rather know if that is for real.

maybe ur car just cant supply the amperage the amp needs to put out that amount of power, when you think about it, for 6kw at 14.4V you would need like 400+ amps. Right?

it's a number, that's about it.

#1, it's peak, which really has no meaning as far as how amp power is rated.

#2, it doesn't allow for impedance change of the load as the frequency changes (which is WHY dummy loads are used for power tests).

Pyramid would be proud of you though.

the " peak" was 9K something.

I know " its not a real test", just having fun with my new DMM.

Just to play along. I got 38v out of my Opti 1000.1D at 2 ohms. UN-clipped - or at least slight enough that it sounds clean.

maybe that thing is wrong. Because according to my lazy calculations 140v is about 3800

1200 watts = 49V.

49*3= 147

1200 watts * 3 =3600

96^2/2 = 4609 RMS

In the E²/R equation you SQARE first to get power, multiply by the rms conv. factor last.

The original poster was right.

Besides - the typical DMM GIVES rms AC readings. Hook one up to a wall outlet. You don't get 170V do you??
