waterproof box

im attempting to place two ten inch subs in the back of my truck, and i dont want to have to buy special marine speakers... ne one happen to have some ideas on how to build a box that will protect my subs? or some sort of covering overhang for the boxes? again, help me out yall.

i know its gonna be tough, but i want to put the subs back there because of lack of space in the inside of my single cab truck...no tonneau, no campershell, just bed. why dont u advise it? now, although you wouldnt advise it, do u have ne ideas of how to make it work?

Well without a cut through it would be near impossible to hear it anyway. You would also need to keep the amps somewhere, then the speakers would be exposed to extreme temperatures and humidity. i dont want to put them in the cab...that's where the amps will be though... with my windows down, two subs in the bed of my truck will be plenty easy to hear... its either i find awaterproof idea, or i take them out when it looks rainy... i dont have room in my cab for them...

IF you really want them in the bed I guess the best thing would be a down firing enclosure. But the subs aren't going to last very long in that enviroment.

by down firing, you mean one that the speakers face down, right? do u have ne pics or design plans i could look at to help me build one?

You will not be able to hear them. Even with the windows down, a pair of 6.5 speakers will sound louder inside the car.

1) if there is no cut or hole in ur cab it will be impossible to hear.

2) if u do not have so type of sound hard cover that is sound deadened,everyone willl be able to hear it.

3) I am shure there is another way for y to do this.

4) Marine subs are very limited. By that i mean there are not many to chose from.

5) Tell us what truck u have and what u are trying to acclomplish and i am shure we can figure some thing out.

Well it really depends on how much money you are willing to spend. I have seen a truck that has had some sheet metal work done that made a half cover in the bed. Almost like a tool box. The individual got a sliding rear glass, and built a box inside the new sheet metal. He had it painted to match the truck and had 2 18's in there. Granted that is not cheap, but it kept the weather out and also kept people from stealing it.

To answer the question about hearing the sound when you are in your truck, I do not think you will be happy with the limited sound you will receive with the box in the bed and your windows down. I know you are limited on space in a truck, but I have made and seen some good ideas from individuals on this forum. If it is a full size truck you can put 2 12's, or 3 tens in the cab behind the seats. I know you keep saying and saying you want them outside. IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY and TIME.
