Warranties and Cutting cab?

Guys, I'm wondering if any of you that have warranties on your vehicles have had issues with your warranies, after you cut the cab...I just bought a new truck, and i want to put 4 12's in, and cut cab...Anyone have warranty issues? or hassles? thanks.

I've been wondering this too, all I know is that blow-throughs usually destroy resale value and significantly minimize your available selling market.

You will void any warranty on the body of the vehicle. If you encounter mechanical issues just cover the blow through and let them fix.

Your resale will fall to the point that the vehicle may be consitered salvage. This is the reason I have not done this yet.

The only way I see to maybe keeping your resale is to re-weld in sheet metal, paint it and then replace the interior pieces you cut. This will cost just as much as the blowthrough to make and still isnt a 100% guarantee.

True. Just cutting the back of your cab can cause a lot of flex if you cut too much. Besides the warranty, your insurance agency may not cover certain things if you get in an accident and they see it. IF you decide you have to do it try to find someone with a welder that can weld in some square tubing to reinforce things. Also make sure all the cut edges are painted. One of the most common problems with blowthroughs is rusted metal edges. Easily preventable.

I have a friend that's a welder, and has done blow throughs before...We'd only make a port size hole, and that's it...Paint it, grind it down..etc...Even talked about welding a piece of sheet metal when I didn't want it anymore, just to cover it up...He paints cars as well...I'm just wondering if it'll void just the area cut, or the whole **** warranty...thanks guys..

that is why I bought me a 1992dakota lol no worries
