Want to tune a sub to 33hz

i'm still not exactly sure what ported boxes and hz have to do with each other

here's what i can gather from my limited knowledge....

the longer / wider the port is, it changes the frequency response from the sub

a sealed box will give a tight / flat response... whereas a ported box will emphasize the lower frequency curve & make it sound deeper while putting out the same power..

thats why they have calculators to figure out port size based on wut sub frequency u want...

my friend says the reviews on this box are rlly good and its 2.8 cuft but from what ive read here, i think we should either build a box or have someone build us one from this site.

what can i say to him to stop him from buying a pre made box?

is there a big sound difference between a pre made box and a custom made box?

In that box you showed the ports dont look long enough to have 2 4" ports and be tuned fairly low. That box may peak in the high 30's or higher. Generally high tuned boxes sound like ish on music.

I could be wrong on the tuning on that box, but it sure looks like it.

99% of the time yes. Because most prefab boxes are make to make money, not made to sound good.
