Want to have $5 dollar a gallon gas?

I don't think we, as a people, really care enough about the environment that we are willing to pay for a clean one.
Has nothing to do with a clean environment. If it was the government wouldn't be talking about spending this $ everywhere but the environment.

Social Security was meant to help take care of people when they become disabled or old age and was a simple concept to keep afloat. You pay in you get back. It is bankrupt because the very same government you seem to want to trust ***** it. BOTH sides do and did **** it and somehow this bill that will cost us millions of jobs because factories will leave, coal companies will go under and cause MORE inflation on top of what Obama started with spending? There is nothing in it either that says it will go to wards helping the environment. They could use the money just like they use your tax dollars. What I find even more funny is weren't we all going to get a $400 dollar tax break?

Seems to me in 4 years our tax break will be somewhere around negative $3400. What will we get for that? Free green cars? HA! New green and free heaters and air conditioners? No. So who is going to get the new technology? Who will be able to afford it? People are having a hard enough time as it is.

Why does the government insist on doing the opposite of what common sense dictates is good?

Illegal aliens? Keep them, feed them, and give them medical care.

Energy companies? Tax the crap outta them.

Failing banks and auto companies? Subsidize them.

Slow economy? Cause lots of inflation.

Inadequate healthcare? Tax the people more, then give them shittier care.

because we are the "greatest" "free" country in the world

at least that was the idea

There is no inflation yet, actually we have seen deflation. The yields on long dated treasuries are believing the Fed and there won't be inflation.

However, watch for the market to get spooked at any time.

We had nearly $5 gas last summer with Republicans in office. Also, yes, we should have gas be that high, would get us in line with the other countries around the world and may spark some actual innovation and research into alternatives.
Worst opinion ever.

What happened when gas started spiking at record levels. Oh thats right, people stopped paying car payments, and what is that other big thing........oh yeah MORTGAGE PAYMENTS. Yes I know alot of people bought houses they couldn't afford but when the payment goes up and gas skyrockets as well, you have to get to work somehow so gas has to be bought. the mortgage, as we all have seen, not so much.

And I love going to the grocerystore and spending 150 on food instead of 100. I would also love it if my electic company started charging me 20/kwh. Especially since its been near or over 100 degrees everday for like 2 weeks here in Houston.

And why in the hell should we be in line with other countries gas prices? What innovations have they come up with to combat high fuel prices? Public transportation and riding bikes. Well I for one am not riding a bike to work as I go down I45, and public transportation here is a joke. It would costs billions to get the US on par with SOME European countries.

Our freedoms are going away and people do not even blink...our Government is in competition with Ford, Toyota and all the other car manufacturers besides Chrysler and GM. Hmmm I wonder who controls EPA CAFE standards? Who will be able to sew GM or Chrysler if they actually put out a car that is really unsafe? Who sews the governments who own airplane manufacturers when it is well known that they produce unsafe airliners?

"The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under

the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist

program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without

knowing how it happened." Hmmmm wonder who said this?

Oh yeah I almost forgot, if the govt really cared about innovations they wouldnt have given GM 50 billion dollars and Chrysler 20 billion or whatever they got. And they still went under. What was the point?

How much does Tesla get? 500 million. WOW guys don't go overboard on the innovation. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Currently, the trend is deflation at a 1.3% annualized rate. That should be changing soon.

Once recovery starts to come in, inflation will get pretty ugly similar to the late 70s and early 80s with Jimmy Carter's policies.

Deflation often is an effect of contraction and this government is pumping so much money in the supply, once velocity increases again, inflation is bound to jump. I wouldn't say skyrocket, but it will be an issue.

It's so ridiculous this current administration. And as for Europe and other countries with more expensive gas and everything, you forget why they can afford it.

1. Lots of diesel vehicles which get great mileage

2. Small countries with high density means shorter travel.

In a place like California high gas prices probably wouldn't be too bad, the high density means that you can get lots of places without going very far. In places like the Dakotas high gas prices could be devastating when some people may have to drive dozens of miles each way to get anywhere at all.
