i have a pair of these ..

AuraSound NS3-193-8A

http://www.parts-express.com/aurasound-ns3-193-8a-3-extended-range-driver-8-ohm--296-258

and wandering how i should mount them?

on a-pillar ?

and second ?

im looking for a nice set of sq tweeters to go with them 3" speakers.

dont have much money so whats good sounding but say 20-40 each ?

was thinking of putting the tweeters with the 3" on my a-pillars.

and ill still keep my dayton 8" midbass speakers in my lower doors.

im getting a dsp so i want to change it up.

also making a box for my 4- sq 12" subs.

also because them 3" are 8ohms was thinking maybe get another set. and have 2- 3" and 1 tweeter on each pillar ??

what do you think?

Tymphany XT25SC90-04 1" Dual Ring Radiator Tweeter

that lil 3" speaker IMO is a waste of time. if you really want to try something different the ribbon tweeters are truly ******..this one still offers a low xover point to cross it over @ 2k with 18/db octave. what do you have the dayton crossed at?Fountek Neo X 3.0 Ribbon Tweeter Silver

if you insist on using that horrible 3" driver Dayton Audio AMTPOD-4 Air Motion Transformer Automotive Tweeter Pair

i love a good silk dome on axis. but this have more air and sound amazing for the money..
They sounded alright with the dayton bookshelf + amt tweeter combo I had back then. Not amazing though it does sound good both on axis and off axis, personally I like the vifa xt 25s a lot more when it comes to on axis performance and the output is a lot more.

im not dead set on useing that 3" ....

what would you go with?

this time i want to put the tweeter and mid range on the a-piller.

right now i only have my tweeters there.

my 8" are bp at 80hz to 250hz . as im using the amps crossovers.

but ill be getting my dsp soon so ill be crossing them differently.

You don't need two midrange drivers per side for an SQ system, even with 8 ohm impedance drivers. A pair of 3/4" tweeters crossed at 5 kHz would possibly be a nice match, and you would have an easy time of mounting them. You would not necessarily have to aim anything on axis.

you wanted something different and ribbon tweeters are definitely that. strangely enough they arent often used in car audio because o the narrow dissipation field and poor off axis response. but by all means if you can get one of the larger ones that is capable of playing down to 2500 and get and high efficiency midrange to handle the rest just about every ribbon tweeter i've heard where nothing short of amazing. again personally i dont care for the metal ones but you you want something that sounds great and is extremely LOUD the metal ribbons are the key.. if not stick to the cloth type..

HiVi RT2C-A Planar Isodynamic Tweeter

you cna cross it around 2000 with a 18db octave slope

this is a planar. much more effective in small spaces than a typical ribbin

Fountek Neo X 2.0 Ribbon Tweeter Black

this is a true ribbon tweeter. as you can see its quite large but they are *******. they can be sharp and are very efficient. you may have to do some EQing around 12k and 20k but once you cut those peaks it will sound great..

HD-4 - CDT Audio High Definition 4" Midrange Drivers

those are two ******* midranges for the money. they like to be on axis or 30 degrees off no more.. paired with those tweeters im sure you will find some bliss.

i know its alot more money than you wanted to spend but if you could manage you will sleep in your car.. lol

Planars do sound great but are very sensitive to location and aiming. Worth the cost and effort if vehicle permits.

The Aura 2" "whisper" is a nice little driver and has been used successfully in the "pluto" home speaker kit (google it, it's a really funky looking thing made out of PVC pipes). I've used it with a smaller AURA tweeter to make a center channel and was quite happy.

ya your right, not sure what i was thinking when i said i would go with 2 because there 8ohms.. lol

and thats the thing im not sure i really want to do another a-pillar panels. it took me about a week to do mine up.

so getting a small 3/4" tweeters sounds good.. lol

man just so many different speakers.... lol

ill do some looking at them, thanks for the help..

but you would not use the speakers i have? the 3" .

i have not even hooked them up yet. i got them off this forum as they looked good.

If you spot some large format planar mid/tweet driver that you like cut out a block of 3/4 ply or MDF the size of mounting and see if you have a good place to have both relatively on plane and on axis with your head. If you can mount them on-axis they'll sound amazing and are very efficient/loud.
