Want some solid hits w/no boom

I am running an MTX Audio Thunder 2000 12" Sub off a Fosgate P600.I bd @ 14.4v

This subwoofer has been pushed now for the better part of 5 yrs off a MTX R202

It really started to sound muddy a while back but I just live with it. So now I have the P600 pounding the heck out of it and I am ready to change out the sub and box to something else.

What may I ask would be a nice clean punch sound with little to no booming.

I have room for up to 3cu feet of space.

Way back in the 90's I used to run 3 JL Audio 12w6 wired 2 ohm off a Punch 200 in the Cab of a semi truck and it was tight. Set to 80Hz with a Phoenix Gold Bass Cube for adjustments on the fly and Alpine 3342 EQ. I still use the EQ's and love them.
