ive got 2 12" kicker cvx subs, running them at 1200 atm and they pound.. relativly new as well, bought brand new 3 weeks ago

get a single audioque hdc3 12" and build a 2.5 cube box tuned between 38-40 hz.

it'd be plently loud enough in that hatchback and sound good too.

you could also add more power later.
