i always knew it sounded like there was a slight difference in bass response with the roof open and closed. so here is a chart of the sub-bass response in my car with it open and with it closed. there is a 7db difference at 20hz, a 5db difference at 32hz, and a 2db difference at 40hz. at 20hz and 32hz those are pretty big jumps with it open, the 2db jump at 40hz is a small difference but it's still there.

i'm using the sub thats in my signature. it's placed on the left side of the hatch firing to the right side.

here is the chart

I dont have a sunroof //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
i guess opening a window might do the same, but it would probably let in more wind and road noise. i remember reading quite a few times on here that opening a window will get you a higher number in a DB Drag.

but the way my sunroof is i can drive around up to about 50-55 mph and not even notice it being open. i don't hear any extra wind noise till i'm over 55 mph.

that's awesome. i have the windows down but rarely open the sunroof. I'm going to do it more often.

I ran my DB drag with windows up. It sounded louder windows up and i have a sealed box if that matters. the bass hits cleaner with windows down. it sounds fuller with windows down

yep opening window/door does the same, thats why its called outlaw when ur getting metered, vs legal which is sealed up (harder to get as loud, especially in smaller vehicles and at lower frequencies)

Nice, I also thought that by sound of ear but thought it might be an illusion, when I went to a comp I cracked mine though... Did you open it all the way or what?
i could have opened it another inch if i wanted to, i opened it to the spot i usually open it to when i have it open.

i thought it was cool to see the results. i was messing around and figured i'd pop it open to see if my ears were tricking me or not.

it is also cool to know that my single little ten thats tuned to 30hz can still extend all the way down to 20hz flat.
