If any of you watched Pimp My Ride in the last couple of weeks and saw & like that Drivesoft car computer & mobile entertainment system then, I've been in contact with a rep there who after some pulling and tugging it out of him is going to cut us a group discount on the units. The systems are going to run from 2900 to 3500.00 for a full system. I know that's expensive but you guys are driving LS's so I know some of you got pockets. He will give us a discount of 500.00 on each unit. So I'm trying to get as many people as i can from all the car sites that i'm a member of and if you are interested in getting one then try and see who wants one from the sites you are a member. The more people we get the better chance i can get a little better discount than just the 500.00 not promising anything but i will try if we get like 15 + people. You can go to the site and look and see what options you want if you don't want the full system and look at the pictures of what it does they are updating the site daily so there will be a flash demo soon. If you want one then email me at mylincolnls@earthlink.net and let me know what options or if you want a full system so i can add you to the list to give to the guy. DRIVESOFT

Yea, they'll be line'in up to get these...

Looks pretty cool, but most of us on here are strugling to make car payments and finish the small systems we have...

I would...but I'm still saving for my deck. And speaker amp. Without a job. Money ***** //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif. Why can't everything in the world just be free? That way we all get free materials - and we do all the work ourselves. We'd learn and be happy. Screw the money idea. Trading is always fun.

Uhm if thats ur blazer.... i dont think u have $$$$ issues....
Yes, that is my Blazer.. So, I guess I'll take that as a compliment... That Blazer is why I have money issues....:up2someth I soend more on it than anything esle...
Ask my G/f... She is so jealous...

We got into a pretty big fight casue my rims cost mroe than her ring!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/angel.gif.fa7795fff6653f4381ba158c55a48b74.gif

how much is it for just the software?
if you already have a cpu (what are the specs?) you would want our CECU bundled with the software, the cecu has 4 inputs 8 relay outputs for control...ie windows, locks, sunroof, seat, airbag suspension control, engine start, ect.....also it has a feature that alows it to automaticly hibernate the pc when you turn you key off, when you turn it on it boots up automaticly.....the hardware software bundle is 175.00$

but if you just want the software and no CECU, the basic core is $30.00

Features: (MP3, DVD, CD, MPG(all video types), Skinnable)

Features currently in Development: (GPS, PDA interface, OBDII, CanBus, Wifi txfr, cd ripping, FM tuner, TV tuner, XM radio, Game emulator)

as the new plugins are developed you will have free updates for 12months, this is a benifit to both packages.... we are constantly developing, so buying in now will save money, since as it has more features the price goes up

Dude that sight is horrible... Lots of the links do not work and it hard to navigate.... I looked at your site and just blew it off..... Till I just saw your post....
From what you posted, Your products look pretty intersting....

Especially, the CECU controller thing..... Any more Documentation on it??

Need any people to Beta test anything??? I was thinking of using the control module to control some linear actuators on Amp racks for my Blazer...

yeah are site is going through a major overhaul as we speak, it was put up about a year ago before we wanted to really say more than our name and a few tidbits, but we are officialy releasing to the public at the SEMA auto show this fall. I have some documentation being printed up and should be available soon as a .pdf

the controller will easily automate your actuators for the amprack and give you many options for customizing. Email: jtune@hybrid-mobile.com for info and specifications for the CECU or complete systems information

Thanks,

Mike

Hello from Drivesoft:

I noticed you guys were talking about Drivesoft. I just wanted to verify that the discount is true.

Second thing is have been around since 1997 and have had a perfected system since then. Since we have introduced the product to the main stream audio world where there has been many small software designers riding our waves in the car audio world to feed their fire. Most of what you see on forums is free and unsupported software that may are may not work. Why do we charge this for the system? The same reason pioneer and alpine change for their full blown multi media system. We offer sales, support and training to our dealers and we have reps the drive around in demo cars across the USA. We do not sit back in an office build doing mail order. Car Audio is a big and serious business if you going to stay around.

Drivesoft product is installed in all types of environments. We have done many casino passenger busses and we have them all wirelessly talking the to a casino server which allows new ads to be down loaded every day. We also are currently on 2 Limo Manufacture Assembly line. Yes, I mean that we get installed in every limo that’s built and we now are going 2 more manufacture shortly. We have our product in research cars that travel to remote locations like the top of volcanoes etc. We are a XM radio, SRS, and Copilot partners.

As far as size: well I have seen some 12v non-ignition controller and that cant hold up to the battery drain when cranking pc’s that they call a car pc. What makes it a car pc? This is not a car pc. I that case I can just buy full desk top pc and put in my car and now I have a car pc. I don’t think so. We power up in 8sec .Our size is 2.5 x 7 x 11 but every thing is inside except XM because we allow you to use the receiver in multiple cars and in you home alike alpine, Sony etc where you need to pay 10 just for your car. Believe me when I tell you there is a big difference between Drivesoft and the other lurking to feed off us. I Guess the buttom line is do you what to buy Sony or Sqony, Alpine or Alfine, Rockford or Rockwood. I think you Car audio guys know what i am talking about.

And finally to close this pricy conversion and so you guy don’t think we want to push people on our full system, well we don’t. We have design and Lite version of our Drivesoft software to accommodate the people who like to do there own thing and have fun building there own PC's etc for $49 introductory rate. Yes you can save a little money. But don’t think you will save allot. If you actually put in you car everything that we offer it won’t be cheap. Our Lite version is based off of the same software that is in our full systems. Bug free. Just as a note we have over 12,000 users with our product. We only have a 2% warranty return rate which in the car audio industry that is unheard of.

Good luck guys. I hope that I helped out with this info

i have to say that i like these guys from drivesoft. they've posted in a number of other forums that i visit, including mp3car.com. over there, it's all about DIY car pc's and they dropped in to let everyone know that they encourage the DIY scene. but if i had the money, i'd be buying a system from them. it most certainly makes my DIY car pc look shameful.

one question though... your lite software version requires the use of a 3rd party navigation program. what about the full version? i caught a glimpse of the navigation software that you use on pimp my ride and it looked really nice? is that exclusive to you guys or is that also a third party program?

and speaking of the lite version, keep us posted on that. i'd really be interested in it.

Windows XP Embedded = 8 Second boot up time. This is a no brainer. Do not think you invented something or did something to make this happen. Windows XP Embedded is the key to faster boot up times. Any of the independent developers could get the same results putting there software on Windows XP Embedded.

Plus your system piggy backs of alot of Windows Components like Windows Media Player, etc.

Not a bad system. Credit is given where credit is due. Just saying you guys have not done anything truly innovative with your software. Which is sad if you have been working on this since 1997.

Take care

From Drivesoft;

We should read the quotes and little closer. We have been selling and designing in car pc's since 1997, not building since 1997.

You are right. Developers can get a quicker boot time with XPEMB. However, we should read the comments better. We offer both XP Pro and EMB both of which is an 8sec boot time. Also if you would have created some test targets and tried EMB you would see that it dose not boot in 8 sec. We do have boot enhancements in our OS. For one, Most XP pro installs are 2.3gig. Ours is 1.43gig. Is it a big deal No, not really. Is an 8 sec boot time on XMEMB and Pro, no not really? the fact, that we talk to the power supply directly to ensure proper shutdown even if something in the OS doesn’t act right, big deal, maybe not. Because we can use many USB devices together on a system and it continues to hold down that 8 sec boot, I guess not but you should try it with a XM PCR and one of the Off the self touch screens that everyone is using and try to get a pc to shut down in S3 STR mode. You might be surprised to see it won’t work as many of the other add-on type pc accessories etc. How do we do it? not going to go there. Well as you said i guess we did not innovate anything, as far as piggy backing as you would say, well you would be surprised at just how deep our low level code goes and it is far from being a wrapper such as most GUI. These points above are like you said no big deal right? Well many guys that like this kind of car computing industry such as some here in the forums may think the things we did are innovative in some way. To a LE4 MSUI tech maybe not.

You know Dell, Gateway, Compaq every year say they have done something new like the latest fad with home media desk tops. What’s innovative about that? I and you probably have had a pc on the TV and home audio unit for years in fact I have had it in 1994. So should I call Mr. Dell and MR gateway and tell them they did nothing innovative, I think not. You want me to tell you what was innovative about the home media pc that is now on the market. Just the fact that they are on the market and providing user with the option to have it with out the hassle. This is innovation at its best.

So what has Drivesoft really done? You say not that much by the sounds of it and you know what? I can respect that. In fact I can respect all negativity because that’s what got me and my group this far.

SO maybe you ask what I think is innovative. Well ok I will list it out short form.

Was selling it in 1997 to many customers in all of my 3 car audio stores

Showed Drivesoft in the ADS/Orion/PPI booth at the 1999 CES show with 3500 responses

2001 we have a serious following

2002 we could not believe the sales that were coming in

2003 we sold to more Celebes then I can count

2004 currently being seen by 3.5 million people many times over

Currently up to 146 dealers buying from us with apps coming in every day

2004 is still not over an we are about to pour it on harder then

Currently over 12000 units running.

We brought something new and different to the table. That’s all

So what this has to do with innovation. We say the taking a once homemade idea that many had back in the day and packaging it up so the everyday person can have something like this without the hassle is a start.

Then coming up with some pretty unique ways to get it in to the car audio market with out the stores sending you on your way because the product was not called Sony or alpine. I would say that is innovative the way we want about our marketing. Successfully getting a PC type of product into car audio store that never sold PC type equipment before is a plus. Being able to maintain standard pricing in the car audio stores throughout the year like the other non-PC type venders. Which you should know that this is a difficult task as PC components is constantly change so we need to take the hit when our parts increase in price.

We have customers going to car audio stores that do not have our product and asking them to order it because the Alpine and Kenwood etc is not what they want.

Well if we can’t get any high-five on our Drivesoft Car Audio Computing solution, then at least give us some innovative credit on our Business choices.

Now if you what you would have said we did not invent anything then I would have to agree, but I think will fall pretty close to the definition innovative. See below

in•no•va•tion Listen: [ n -v sh n ] n. * The act of introducing something new. * Something newly introduced. in no•va tion•al

innovativeness - noun - The quality of being novel: freshness, newfangledness, newness, novelty, originality.

We are not an inventive company. however, we are innovative.

Just wanted to clear that up. I should not be chatting so long but we take turns here at Drivesoft on the phone at night because we ship and support companies in different time’s zones and it gets a little slow at 4am.

Good luck with your innovative software as it is “newly introduce” which would make you innovative as well.
