Wall socket

you have to take into consideration the outlet and coil configuration of the sub...the dual 2 ohm sub wired in parallel is going to take a whole lot more power than the SVC 8 ohm walmart sub.

RE se 10's will take the wall socket for well over 20 minutes if you put them in an enclosure //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

wow them subs are beasts

ahh sorry man didnt fully understand what you were saying, I thought you were saying that it would take the power better than the 8 ohm therefore lasting longer

When Dan Wiggins was down here, he told me an interesting story about this. He mentioned that one of his dealers were in awe of another company because their rep came in with a sub/box combo that he plugged into a wall outlet without any harm coming to the driver. Dan explained that it was no big deal. All you have to do is build the box for the sub so it's impediance peaks at 60 Hz. So let's say that it peaks at 70 ohms.

E=IR

I=E/R

P=EI

P=E^2/R

P=110^2/70

P=173 watts

So the sub only has to handle 173 watts of power. That's not a big deal for most subs on the market.

Lol, I was just thinking about that, I heard that story somewhere else...it might of even been you that told it though...

I was giong to bring up the point of impedance spikes...oh well...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I remember mentioning it somewhere recently, but I couldn't remember where. So it probably was me.
