W6v2 not good enough, wut now?

bust out a multimeter and test the impedance yourself, also like said above check your gains and freq tuning...

That was what I was thinking Bonesninja. If they have everything wired in parallel it would be at 1 ohm, that amp is not supposed to be at 1 ohm. I tried my Brahma wired to 1 ohm to a 500/1 and it started to pop and sound horrible at high volumes, I took it out and rewired it to a 4 ohm load and all those sounds went away. T
about your setup, if these are the same jl amps im thinking about, they put out the same power (500w*1)@1.5-4ohms so at 1 ohm it would be bad but a 4ohms it still wont change output power......

Yup, wire them to a 4 ohm load yourself and forget about that shop you go to. Then unplug the bass boost and turn off the bass EQ. Then turn the input voltage low/high switch to high. Turn your gain all the way down and put on a good cd with bass, turn your headunit up to where the mids and highs start to distort etc, now start turning the input sensitivity clockwise slowly until you hear your subs start to distort and then back it off a bit. Also make sure you have your headunits, bass or sub level on to where you usually keep it. If you do this and the subs start to sound like they did before you might have a problem. Also recheck you subsonic filter and set to 30z. Also set your low pass filter to75 hz with the 24 db slope...not the 12. Do all of this and get back to us.

i don't think he was saying that output will change--i think he means that the amp can't handle 1 ohm so he needs to switch to 4 ohms.

okok, so i basicly spent the whole day messing with the amp and the subs, here is were i am, i can now turn it up to 25 before it starts to bottom out, but the volume for the bass has been lowered on all levels, in fact u cant even hear it at 15 not until 18 does is start making noticable noises, at 20 its loud but not as loud as it used to be 25 is as loud as my 20 used to be, but now the highs over power the bass and it doesnt sound right...i tired everything you guys told me too, except i couldnt find anyone with a multimeter. i just want my subs to be loud **** it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/bawling.gif.6287aa5d1d447c8af063fc9466e822ef.gif i found out another disturbing thing, my subs arnt as loud as i thought they were, standing outside my truck windows up u cant hear anything outa the subs but if u put ur hand on the truck u can feel when they hit. this is dissapointing because i am trying to compete with locals and you can hear their systems as clear as day outside their cars, i know i know, i have a wimpy system to want that, and they prolly cant hear at all anymore j/k i dunno, i was hopen they would be louder than it is. so, i suppose im back where i started

with the volume at 20 it was set at +0 i turned it up to +1 and it started bottoming out again with just one which really doesnt make sense...also i have a offer for a xxx15" will it hit harder than my jls now?

yeah i think u should definitely build your own box, or put them in the box that jl recomends. My friend has one in the box that jl build with 600 watts going to it and it doesn't bottom out or anything. Sounds great and is loud enough for just one 12 in an suv. I'm sure two in a truck would blow you away if you got it set up right.

the box is almost correct, its just tuned at 38hz so you really think that just by getting box that is tuned lower woould fix it? also wut should the subs be tuned too? what would change if i went with a sealed box?

Try wiring the subs in series so that they are 8 ohm per sub then wire the subs from the amp to each other in parallel, giving you a final 4 ohm load. I thought for sure that the amp could go to one ohm which is .5 below what is recommended but mine could not. Try this and get back to us.

same thing happened to me. its fine now after i rewired it.
