Hi All
Was hoping for some advice, I've got a Mercedes 2008 E Class (W211) AvantGarde model with what appears to be Audio 20 with just a CD player, no Aux in etc.
I'm not too impressed with the sound quality in the car, after some research it appears as if just adding a good amp should improve the sound quite a bit, I was thinking of adding these components:
- Alpine CDE-W235BT £149 - (looks like I need a double din unit for my car)
- A decent amp
- A decent subwoofer
- Fitting Kit for my car (£59.99), contains: Double Din Fascia Adaptor (Black) / Steering wheel Control Adaptor / Aerial Adaptor / Patch Lead
For the Amp and Sub i've seen a package (£189) which consists of:
Alpine SWG-12440 12" Type G 800W subwoofer,
Alpine PMX-T320 Amplifier,
12" Sealed carpeted sub-box
I chose the Alpine head unit as i've heard is the most reliable with good sound quality, also it has all the features I need (audio streaming from iphone).
The sub and Amp I know nothing about, I just looked at the above as its within budget and it seems a good name, I dont believe I need anything else..
I dont listen to music too loud so I think the above should give me a good upgrade, my main priority is sound quality including decent Bass, the Mercedes forums seem to suggest the standard speakers are good in the E class and just needs an amp to improve the sound quality hence i'm not looking at speakers.
I've been inside cars with a sub where the bass just overpowers everything and there is a lot of distortion, I want to avoid this at all costs, not sure of the cause of this, is it just a case of getting the right subwoofer? I want the Bass to be clean and blend into the music, I've got a 2.1 THX certified system at home which is ideal.
Would appreciate experienced members thoughts on the above, especially if they think for example I can get a better Sub/Amp etc for a similar price, head unit I think is fine unless someone tells me otherwise.
Advice appreciated as I'm confused with all the choices out there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
