both cars are available around $25,500 which is a little more than i wanted to spend but i can't downgrade too much, lol. Mileage is a key factor with gas prices the way they are now, here are some specs

GLI

2.0t turbo 4 with direct injection and 6 speed DSG auto *****

25/31 rated mpg

Camry Se v6

3.5l 258hp V6 with 6 speed automatic

22/31 rated mpg

both come with factory 17's which would probably end up changed out and the aftermarket will probably be more friendly to the jetta.

i generally prefer a smaller sedan and the Camry seems like more room than i want/need so i'm leaning toward the jetta.

i have a GLI and it's awesome. there is no comparison for driving a german car and riding in a japanese car. and you get so many sweet features for the price, HIDs, on board computer, all windows auto up/down, electronic locks, sexy looking car, rear air vents, plenty of room, steering wheel controls, it's fast (i can keep going here). add a chip and the thing is a little rocket. i can't say that there is a better car for the price. and btw, it's not a Jetta, just a GLI (i don't like saying i drive a jetta //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif)

oh yeah, and i get ~25 real MPG. thats with some highway, some city, and a good amount of going fast. that is probably the only con, it is way to fun to go fast.

The Camry has a FAR better track record for reliability than the Jetta //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
To tell you the truth after seeing the 07 camry's i think i rather have the camry than the Jetta.

thats what i was thinking..

If you plan to keep it for a long time and reliability is important to you.. get the toyota..if you plan to trade if off in a few years and would rather have something more fun to drive get the jetta..

they can't get a V6 camry near the price of the Gli and the 158hp 4 banger seems a little weak for such a big car so i'm hopefully going to check out a black Gli soon.
once you go black you never go back... but really, after driving one, you will know your decision. 6 speed FTW

why would you get the 4 banger? the 270 hp v6 sounds like a winner to me.. I was also looking at the camry and did alot of research that ppl were haveing alot of problems with the new 6 spd ******

he says they cant get the v6 near the price dumbass... meaning more than he wants to spend

yeah the SE V6 bases under $25k but toyota loads them up with "extra mile" packages, sunroof and jbl packages, etc. i'm pretty set on the Gli, i drove the Gti a few months back and loved the motor/***** but people in arkansas don't really understand that hatchbacks can be cool.

sorry dumbass i must have missed a post.... I thought he was looking for one for 25k.... I can get a loaded minus leather SE for 26k... That sounds near the price to me... dumbass

Yea i seen a few gli's there sharp looking cars, i really like the front end.. Good choice

Who's "they"?

I would go check out different dealers. The MSRP of the Camry is around 24k. I am sure you can haggle the price well below that if you are good. My folks were able to shave off a few grand with our 05 SE Camry when it just came out.
