Volvo V70R

The V70R is getting a new rack. Amp rack that is.
I built the old one not too long ago but I'm bored and want to put the amps in the spare tire well. Was trying to decide between putting the sub in there or the amps and I went with the amps. Mostly so I can hide other accessories under there also.

Here is the old rack on the left next to the box @CSCStang built for me.

JL logo will most likely have edge lit plexiglass. Ideally some aluminum trim but we'll see if I can source the right stuff for the job.

Now I'm not an spl junkie like some of you guys so I'm not doing anything crazy with this car. Just looking to do some clean work and practice some fabrication.
The 12 w6v3 will be probably be replaced with a 15" SSA ICON though if it pleases some of you bass heads lol.

Current equipment:
Pioneer deh-80prs
XD 400/4v2
XD 1000/1v2
C5 components(front)
12" w6v3
Big 3 and upgraded group 48 agm under the hood.

Everything else in my setup is pretty much complete but I always like changing things around so after this rack is done it'll be on to the next project.

Wood trim added to the car. All the woodgrain pieces were originally black. I found the last piece I needed at pick and pull today so it was time to get it all in the car. I really like the woodgrain over the black.

I also nabbed a little "volvo" aluminum trim piece that I may incorporate into the amp rack

Honestly, I think your current amp rack looks awesome //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif it was the first one I've done that wasn't just bolting it to some wood in the trunk. Came out pretty good but there are a lot of things that could be better. This rack will be similar but with added stealth.

ya really, looks good the way it is.but..

i understand, im the same why.....
Always fun to change things up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well my girlfriends amp died a quiet death last weekend. No smoke or anything, it just turned off and never came back on. Thing was 7 years old anyway.

I'm giving her my xd 1000/1v2. I got a DD M3C on the way though so the build will be much different than originally planned but I'll still document it. Amp should arrive next week, in the mean time I'll be brainstorming to come up with a new design.

Being kind of OCD about my installs I may replace the xd 400/4v2 with a matching DD amp. I'll just use the xd for my girls front stage lol. She's going to end up with a nice little hand me down system but I drive her car a lot.

My amp came in the other day so work began on the new rack.

Work on the template for the beauty panel has begun. Everything so far is pretty basic just for mounting but I'm hoping to add some flare with the panel.

Got the cardboard template transferred to a 1/4" piece of birch ply. I would have went with something thicker but that is all I could fit between the amps and the hatch.

I only cut the hole for the m3c to show through for now since I'll be changing the 4 channel amp in the next week. There will be a hole for that amp as well though. I was going to add plexi but I think I'll leave it open for the amps to breathe and just add the LEDs.

Now I'm am trying to decide what to cover it with. Going to stop by the fabric store if they're open today. I was thinking a black or grey carpet or black vinyl but I'm having second thoughts. With the amps being all black maybe I want the rack to contrast that and be a lighter color? Not sure really, we'll have to see what I like when I get to the fabric store.
