Volume...at what level?

Hey everyone! I am really curious about were your volume is at when you reach the piont of getting rediculous. I was in my car yesterday and I put in Van Hallen's Balanced cd and got to 16 on a scale of 35 and that was about all I could stand. Incredibly crystal clear. The kicker is I haven't even put my sub in yet. My brother and others finally convinced me to get a amp and sub to complete the system. My thinking is OMG! What in the Sam Hill is this going to do to my volume. From what I have seen here on this forum there are some amazing systems around (far better than mine), it leaves me to wonder where people around here are at with respect on your volume. When I got this head unit, the test cd, the sales guy went all the way up to 28 on a scale of 35 and it about make me cry. No distortion, none, noda. In a couple of weeks the bass (enhancement only) will be installed. I ask myself am I nutts?? Imput will be greatly apreciated. for me having a sub let me turn the volume up higher because the sound will be more balanced if everything is set right. my friends stock steoreos i couldnt turn up very high until after he put a sub in it because after it sounded so much better and you could hear all the sounds you couldnt hear before

My system:

Mitsubishie Eclipse

Head Unit: Kenwood Excelon KDC-X589

Front sound stage: Infinity Kappa's 6.5 doors

Dash: Alpine 4' type S coax

Mid rear: Alpine 6.5 type S coax

Amp: Infinity ref 7541a 4 channel

Hatch: Alpine 6x9 type S 3 way with enclosed Q-logic boxes

On the way, Sub amp: Directed audio xa602

Sub: Alpine 12' Type E with ported box

Monster cable kit, dynamat in front doors

Oh my, I didn't want to confuse anybody. I just wanted to know how loud can you turn up your sytem on your head unit scale 1-35 or wherever your volume control is at on your paticular head unit before it become insane. LOL

It partially comes down to how you set your gain structure.

You could set your gain so that the volume maxes at on volume 10, or you can set them so that it maxes out on volume 30.
