I plan to put an aftermarket double din unit in my older Porsche. I would like to be able to control volume and station change from the steering wheel. My plan is to put 4 momentary buttons in the aftermarket steering wheel aluminum part. I have found a compatible clock spring with sufficient terminals.

On ebay I have found some head units that say: " Feature 2: Support steering wheel control+FM+MP5+Aux Input"

I'm wondering if I can use a head unit with this feature without the need for a steering wheel control box such as the ASCW-1. I'd rather keep it simple if I can.
