Volts and Amp output

When an amp says it puts out a certain wattage at certain volts ie. 12 volts, 14 volts, what does this mean? Does it mean your battery has to be 14 volts? Is that the voltage they are referring to? My capacitor reads a little over 12 volts, is that how many volts my amp is operating on?

your car battery will read from 11.5-12.7ish when the car is off and nothing is powered on inside.

When the car is running the alternator helps out and the alt pushes about 14.4v . Like I said when nothing is on and that rating is + or - a little bit

If a radio is rated at 50 watts at 12v it will push a little more power at 14 volts. But on head units you wont see much of a gain.

If a amplifier is rated at 1000 watts at 12 volts, you will see/notice a differance at 14 volts.

The amp may do 1200rms or more just because of the added voltage.

Have you read ohms law??

If you read up about that this will ll make sense
