Vista Is The Sh!t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootOptions
what exactly is the problem? Did you make it through the install and then get a black screen after it? If so, your issue is not graphics, but grub.
no....the OS boots and display works, but it is glitchy.....can't move windows around without them jumping and xgl is using >50% processor even when I have nothing running.

the desktop has a few bugs as well....and I looked up the 7500 and 8.04 to find people stating it is not supported

that is what I was trying to run when everything went to shit...
by chance have you made the following changes to your xorg.conf?

Code:
Section "Device"
Identifier	"Configured Video Device"
Boardname	"ATI Radeon"
Busid "PCI:1:0:0"
Driver "radeon"
Screen 0
Vendorname	"ATI"
Option "MergedFB"	"off"
Option "AccelMethod" "EXA"
Option "EXANoComposite" "false"
Option "FBTexPercent" "50"
Option "MigrationHeuristic" "greedy"
Option "DRI" "true"
Option "GARTSize"	"256"
Option "AGPMode" "4"
Option "Colortiling" "On"
EndSection

Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier	"Default Layout"
screen 0 "Default Screen" 0 0
Inputdevice	"Synaptics Touchpad"
Option "AIGLX" "true"
EndSection

Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "Enable"
EndSection

Section "DRI"
Mode 0666
EndSection
also note:

ATi's proprietary Linux drivers support only the R200/FireGL graphics chips and above. The Mobility Radeon 7500 is based on the R100 graphics chip; the only Linux driver available for this chip is the open-source radeon DRI.
