Visonik V4000XD @ .5ohm = amp HOG!!

Just wired my 4000xd in the driveway to .5 from 2ohm to the 4 Aq's since I figured with rise I wasnt coming close to pushing the subs. I figured it was modded to run lower impedances anyways, so I might as well try.

Well holy crap! A nice increase in audible bass playing my regular songs

BUT I used to stay around 11.9-12.1 on full tilt, I hit 11.0 just now on only 25/40 volume.... then I was told to turn it off lol

Looks like a 110amp alt, yellow top and a big backup batt and the big3 arent enough for this beast.

Since my a/c compressor aint workin nomore instead of fixing it I might end up just grabbin a generic 250alt and throw that in its place...

Not much, factory 110amp alt, big 3 in 2/0, single 17' 1/0 power run, blue top main and a eliminator truck battery (1200cca 160min reserve) under the hood

I dunno what kind of power the V4000xd pulls @ .5 (dmm reads .8 @ the amp), but it makes 3500 @ 2ohm on 14v (which Im nowhere near voltage wise)

Ill go out later and see how the amp takes full tilt for 20+, never used to get warm at all, neither did the subs

Well kinda yeah, I probly picking up a D9 and going with 3 18" MJ18m's very soon so I thought I might aswell see what this setup can handle. Didnt expect to drop into the 10's though

Im debating either getting a big alt but nobody makes one for my car direct bolt in so its either rewind the factory to higher amp or ditch the a/c compressor and pick up a generic 1 wire for $350.

Dunno yet, just moved out on my own 6 weeks ago, still balancing out to having to pay for EVERYTHING and seeing what kinda of disposable income Ive got, looking for a second job on the weekends

Yeah... You're doing a quarter of the two ohm load, and if it makes 3500 at 2 ohms, then jesus christ it's going to pull power at .5 ohms.

Way below rated stable ohm load and at pretty low voltage...I smell smoke coming.

You may need about 3 more batteries for that amp. Generally, Visonik and MA Audio

don't come alive until around 17 volts. Best of luck though.

the mod just cuts the protect so you can run it at 1 ohm, doesnt make it 1 ohm STABLE, dropping voltage like that its gonna smoke, people do it for comps, they are current hogs to begin with, good luck

Well Im not gonna lie, I really dont wanna run this amp in my next setup, Id like something much more efficient. Most likely grabbing 2 D9's since there only $1k right now

Ill probly run it @ .5 until I get the MJ18's (production supposed to be starting VERY soon), and if it lasts Ill throw it in the Crx on my 4 cadence wild beast 15's that are ampless right now

I was told when I bought this visonik amp that it liked a HUGE battery bank, so I was warned!!
