Viper 791 vx problems after bestbuy install

I needed an alarm, one of my boys just had one installed so I asked him for suggestions. He had his Viper 791 installed at a bestbuy and recommended that I go there(riverside, ca...tyler mall) . I usually don't go to bestbuy for installs but when I got the recommendation I thought what the heck...Well I had problems immediately, the alarm fell and hit me in the leg while driving on the highway...WTF...(recently fixed this problem) but when I remote start it seems to cut off after the car hits normal running temp. In the summer it cuts off after a min... In the winter time it cuts off after it hits normal running temps...Anyway to fix this problem? I had a different bestbuy, look at it. The car cut off at different times, he checked the tach and some other stuff but could not find out why..My boy who had his installed at the same place has a 2001 Honda accord and his does the same thing...I have 01 acura cl

I did a search and I found the answer to my other problem with the range on my remote...I need to unhide the antenna that they placed under my headliner...

haha good ol best buy. problem with the shutting off could be what the run time is set at. as far as the alarm falling on you take it back tell them to hide it because if it falls on you means it is not hidden for shit and any theif can fin it easy.

Have them change your run time to like 24min alot of the newer cars take awhile to heatup/cool down.

After talking with the tech at bestbuy, if it was the run time it would have shut off at the same time everytime right? For some reason my engine cut based on the temp of the engine. Its at the end of the summer and the remote start will stay on for a couple minutes, hit normal running temp and then cut off. If you turn it back on it will run for a minute and then cut off. It stays on for different periods of time based on the temp of the engine...If that helps...

I will see if I can adjust the run time though....Worth a try I guess....

Is there a security light coming on?

It could be a bad ground...

Does it randomly remote start by itself?

As an owner of that alarm, I have to tell ya, that it's not worth a dime spent on it. I too had problems for the first couple of months after it was installed. The range of up to a quarter mile on the transponder is a joke, and the deg on thing still says that my sunroof is always open. I was yet again disappointed by another directed electronics product.

they have it set to turn off when it reaches a temp,

had 3 of these alarms not very impressed especially with the range i had a 2way page alarm in 2001 that had better range made by ex somethin or other

dont get alarms at best buy installed they **** and they make it easy to disable cause they put em in the same spot that theives look for the brain. siren

I thought only the avital 4400 had the temp-controlled remote start?

rofl best buy (for the most part) has quite possibly the worst installers ever. Did they use a tach sense or voltage sense ? It may be shutting down to over voltage or over rev perhaps ?

Actually at the bbuy I worked at (until last week) we had really good installers. So if anyone in the ATL region needs an installer, I can give you the name of a great one.

I believe you had a very shitty installer and posssible a bad batch alarm, I installed mines and never had a problem,the range is very close to a quater mile, I really think its the way your alarm was installed.

Man take that sh*t back to where you had it installed at and talk to the store manager!

Tell him the installation is NOT acceptable and you want it re-done by a competent installer.

If he doesn't have a good one there then tell him to call another store and demand the install be redone somewhere else!

Tell them to re-read the Viper install and owner's manual so they can program your alarm correctly! That is why it is shutting off on you!
