Does anyone know which wire off the alarm unit powers it. I'm looking to wire it different so if my main battery power it cut it will still work.

the red wire with the fuse on it, just get the DEI backup battery

Backup battery would be the solution. The red wire mentioned above as well as the two (or newer 3) larger red wires coming from the XCRS power the unit.

The heavy gauge wires from the relay pack just power the remote start relays. The alarm will still function if they're disconnected, and they shouldn't be used with the battery backup.
