ok imagine these being 4 ohms.....and costing the same price

you have 80 watts RMS per channel

you have compression horns handling 1.2 khz and up

which would you pick? and why?

I'd pick the dayton. I have both the PL and the RS and the RS beats the PL in midrange clarity and detail. The PL sounds a bit muddy in the midrange area. Midbass output goes to the PL though. It's thicker sounding and is more full-bodied while the RS is snappy.

yea....I also had the PLs. They did sound a bit muddy yet the bass was quite powerul.

I was curious how they would stack up against the Daytons (never heard them personally)

Im looking for something similar to the Seas CA18RNX mids but with more midbass impact

I never overpowered midbass speakers before.

Dayton Refs are 60 watts compared to the PLs which are 100 watts.....the PLs seem to be more efficient.

will this be a problem? I have 80 watts 4 ohms.

Wont be a problem. The daytons will still get pretty loud.

Pre-debucked would be the current versions.

You mean, 4ohm non-sheilded versions.

From what I've heard, since they should be around the same price as the 8ohm version...I'd take the Daytons.

called them...gentleman says that they only have the 8 ohm drivers in stock and that he has not heard of a shipment of 4 ohm drivers.

they're just saying that. Some of the other guys talked to the tech guy and the tech guy said he's hoping the shipment comes in today. If you're talking to the sales guys or whomever else, they probably wouldn't know about it.
