SPLC Fails
So I just picked up an 8cf box the other day. Unlike my previous box, this is double baffled on the sub-face, and internally braced. My other box was also >4cf, so it is a pretty big difference. Since it holds together better, it hits cleaner (despite being larger), and really enjoys the low notes now. My current box is tuned @ 28hz. It is hooked up to a Rockford Fosgate T1001bd @ 1 ohm, for a potential of 1600wrms. I doubt I'm getting anywhere near that much power, since I don't have Big 3, I'm running 4ga power and ground, I have a stock 90a alternator, and I only have one battery (700cca Autolite 84 or something like that). By one battery, I mean it's the battery that is starting my engine as well, not one extra battery. Luckily, the Rockford is pretty efficient, so I can run it at full power without my lights fully dimming, but I still know its not getting enough power going to it (and from it, obviously). Also, everything is hooked up pretty ghetto and probably will stay that way, solely because I'm about to sell my car so I don't want to spend hours cleaning it up for nothing. And some of the "slapping" noise is coming from the wire leads in the sub, which are not woven. A new speaker amp is on its way, as the RCAs are being annoying and usually produce the alternator whine that you are hearing in the video.
To the point of the thread, which I'm hoping is placed in the right section. I took a few videos of it, finally. My car is VERY solid, so it doesn't flex as much as you'd think it would. You put the same amount of power in my buddy's Mazda 626, and it just falls apart. All I get is a little roof flex and trunk hop. I was a little jumpy in taking the video, because I was trying to catch all the flex I could, so I'm sorry if you get motion sickness //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
First video, a bass tester that sweeps down to what I would guess is 10 or 15hz
Can't wait for my next car (SUV, actually)! It's gunna be done well...1/0 big 3 and Power and Ground, Batcap (or something similar), bigger stock alternator, and probably a MB Quart Discus 2000. Heh heh //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
