I have never seen anyone "break in" a coil? What is that doing for you?

Dark coil is not a good thing. That means it is getting hot and not cooling since it is not moving. . .

You didn't break in that coil, you burnt away some of the varnish on it that is supposed to be there, good going numb nuts, you ruined your recone.
