*VID* 2 10" D6's in a TCAB .....finally got metered..

i want to see a video of your stereo on the TL in a different box...still ported just something other than a TCAB box so we can see exactly how big of a difference the TCAB box makes:D...good score though for sure!

vid like that already exists //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

The first box was designed by one of the box designers on these very forums //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

As far as the d6's - that is a LOUD box... that car is horrific to get loud in. If I had to guess, at least another 3+ db from putting those rear seats down. They arent like regular seats, just like the entire trunk, its pretty dam well sealed off.

its not the port that improved the score...."TCAB" boxes are built around the resonant frequency of your specific application...not that i think they are worth $300 but definitely well built boxes.
so then we are comparing apples to oranges here?

1 box being designed specific to what the owner requested?

to

1 box being specificaly to that vehical with actual access for testing purposes oppposed to just do what was asked for?

would u have not thought a gain would be in order?

bored guys?

but doesnt look like ima get one yet, maybe he needs longer to think of a come back, or a reason to still make his boxes look like GOLD?

I'm confused?

The boxes sounded a hell of alot better, and got alot louder... what more to it is there?

The guy's first box was designed to be "loud" too.... but it obviously didn't do its job. We actually put some time into it to get that number out of it.. started off with a 136, did a bunch of fiddling and such... and it got louder. I made sure I put as much effort as possible into getting that box loud, to avoid any BS.

There was no res freq testing, there was nothing special done to those boxes that EVERYONE ELSE doesn't get. He was a regular customer, and thats what a regular customer gets - one hell of a box.

to be loud in general, not in that specific car...

yes you go the extra mile and actualy work with car meaning you will have better results because of the hands on.

you cant compare a general use design to your specific design for that car.

The design wasn't a general design, it was designed by someone on here for his trunk... How can a custom box design be anything but custom??

I didnt do ANY testing in that car. I took his measurements and made the boxes accordingly, like every other setup.

oh...i was told that is why your boxes were so expensive.....so why are they so expensive? honestly i cant understand why a $22 sheet of MDF, $4 in screws, $2 for glue, and $$ for labor can add up to $300.
What $ is it worth to know you are getting the best boxes for your application?

The boxes really aren't expensive... particularly considering what sort of performance gain you recieve from a "normal" box.

Lets consider the latest setup... the single type R 15 box for $275 shipped. A box that WILL do a 150+ in nearly any vehicle, given at least 1500 watts. Someone already took advantage of this deal, and is doing a 150.7 in the trunk of a grandam.. with one type R 15 and 1600 watts.

How much do people normally pay to do a 150+? How about in just equipment? Could they not have saved $ by just buying my box and less equipment?

Things like that are hard to explain on a DIY forum //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Just because it says custom doesnt mean its anything special. Shit i can draw a dick on a pryramid sub and call it "custom" other than lookin a hell of a lot better does it make the sub any better?

Now i would call your design more custom than anything else, from the off the wall placements.

Also your obsesion with the type R wouldnt u say you probly know more about how they would react box wise than the person who designed the first box?
