For meat and to keep the ratio in check. Our buck to doe ratio in Mississippi is rather skewed and that makes it harder to maintain trophy quality bucks. I try to kill 2-3 does a year to match the number of bucks I kill. And usually I obtain this with a bow so I don't have to worry about it with a gun.why shoot a doe period? thats ****ed.
and I'm all for the killing of deer
Bucks, does, and fawns should all be destroyed. They are a worthless pest that cause over a million car accidents each year and raise car insurance for everyone.
I waited 30 minutes before I even got down to look at my arrow. I had a complete pass through and plenty of blood, and 90% of the time when you get a completely pass through with that much frothy red blood, your deer is down QUICK.
This was that other 10% of the time.
I have thought about investing in a good bloodtrailing breed of dog and paying for someone to train it. I don't ever need a dog during gun season (primarily b/c I shoot a .300WSM), but a dog could be a valuable asset to me in bow season.Well atleast you did that right. A lot of people dont realize that the deer will keep walking if you track it right after, have to give it time to go lay down, takes a hell of a lot less time and energy. Dogs probably wouldnt hurt either if you hunt that much...
