Very very frustrated...

the past 3 days i've been working to renovate my scion back to it's former glory since i decided to keep it, and i finally "finished" my install today... but i'm experiencing a major problem...

Current set up is as follows:

HeadUnit --> Eclipse CD8443

MTX Blue Thunder PRO150x2 --> Image Dynamics CX62 Chameleons (Mids)

another MTX Blue Thunder PRO150x2 --> Max Fidelity MDFT30neo (Tweets)

Concept CC-D1200 --> Ascendant Audio Avalanche 12"

The sub just simply doesn't work. I have it wired like this...

to my Concept...

And sound comes out, except it's very very faint. As in, put headphones in the middle of the room, turn them to half volume and listen, and that's all the sound that comes out. That's with the gain at ~90% too, and the frontstage is cranking so there's a good bit of volume on the head unit. Turn down either and the volume drops drastically.

I tried a bunch of different things so far to fix it...

Tried swapping the RCAs with a different set... took the HU out to make sure the RCAs were plugged in correctly... took the sub out of the box and made sure all the wiring was correct and ran it outside of the box... Tested the voice coils on the sub, both are ~2 ohms each, so it's not blown by those standards....

If anyone has ANY ideas at all, please throw them out... i'm seriously at a loss of what to do here.

is your sub on a different amp from your front stage if so then check your sub amps ground connection also check to see if its geting power with a dc voltage meter

Where are your crossovers set at?

Xovers on the 8443 --> the "Low" setting is at 80, the next setting is at 80, (both 24db/slope), next point is at 2.5, 18db, next setting is at 2k, 24/db ... I was just playing with xover settings to get a decent frontstage aound and so that it would send at least some correct freqs to the sub, i don't think that's the problem....

Do you have a High level input attenuation switch? Level function on the HU you don't know about?

Did you test the sub on a diff amp? The Amp on a diff sub? Both in different cars altogether?

DMM on all connections? Check voltage of RCA's? Broken tinsel leads on sub? Loose connection behind Headunit?

Yes it most certainly is, and the ground for my sub amp is going to a ground distro with the other 2 amps to a run of 0 gauge to the ground location.

Also checked power, with a DMM, it's getting ~12.7 volts steady.

Not sure what a high level attenuation switch is...

Level function on the HU... I don't think so, I owned an 8053 head unit that i was fairly familiar with before this and it's essentially the same as the 8443 without balanced line outs.

Haven't tested the sub on a different amp, i tested the amp on an old 6.5" that came from the stock system in my friend's subaru, and it played about the same, if not perhaps slightly louder volume.

DMM on all connections... most all that would matter i think.

Voltage of the RCA's no, however, i should definitely check that and will now.

Tinsel leads are fine.

Connections behind HU all appear fine.

id say your subs messes up but i cant be sure

but you should def check your rca that had me stumped for a while it make a big difference also if you can look inside your amp to see if everthing looks good

High level input attenuation is a usually -12db setting used for speaker level inputs... Will de-nut your system totally if it is on and you are runnin RCA's.

Hmm... I know the "LOUDNESS" setting is turned off, i suspected that might be the problem too, then i found it wasn't //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

Going to check the RCAs now.

yea x2 turn up the sub level on the HU

Yeah, i made the " ;o " face because i really already tried that a long time ago....

And i just realized i have no idea how to check the voltage of RCAs... i tried sticking the prongs in the cables but that didn't work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif :cool: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif lol...
