x2Check for ground loops.
Good rule of thumb is to keep all grounds in same location. Helps to cut out ground loops
x2Check for ground loops.
i hate hearing stories about these "professional shops" ive got a honda civic, 80amp alt, running 1500rms with stinger batt and have no voltage drop problems or amps shutting off..... 800 rms and without trying to fix their screwup they want to sell him extra batts. what a joke.
if all that equip you posted on page one is correct why did they sell you an amp that does 150rms for 50rms speakers. doesnt seem safe to me.
the one time i had an amp that would get really hot, then go into protect it was cause i had a grounding issue. i had a common ground for 2 amps and a cap so i took advice from a friend i have that installs alot and shortened my grounds and had separate grounds per amp and never had the problem again.
did they even set the crossovers and gains on the amp? maybe his gains are set too high and hes overdriving the amp? maybe a combination of issues.
Im not gonna read some 19 page alternate thread. But I will say this, there's no way in hell the things you mentioned would alter your speaker's impedance. If your speaker reads 2.4 ohms now, it always did.Ok, so i haven't read this entire thread but let me guess, team nutz ripped you off and gave you bullshit advice about equipment?
READ. TEAM NUTZ IS -THE- DEFINITION OF RIPOFF.
Ed Nuttal, the owner of "team nutz", is a fat ****ing idiot who thinks the chick at his shop will "settle the deal" when he quotes you at 50% above retail or MSRP for most of the shit they sell, INCLUDING RE. He will charge you $2,100 for a 18" XXX, when you can easily purchase it (FROM recommendations from RE THEMSELVES) for HALF of that.
Read my thread.

and FYI, there are some complete dumbasses in that thread who actually signed up after Ed told them to to back "his opinion"
HE wired a $1,000+ subwoofer WRONG. OUT OF PHASE. and ran 1,500 WATTS TO IT. which is probably why my sub now reads 2.4 on the VC's, not 2.0 or 2.1 or even 1.9.
then you're calling the developer of the subwoofer a liar.Im not gonna read some 19 page alternate thread. But I will say this, there's no way in hell the things you mentioned would alter your speaker's impedance. If your speaker reads 2.4 ohms now, it always did.
