Very hot ground

Aight, some times when im drivin my amp keeps goin on and off or protection like the light flickers green and red. and i went to like move the ground wire connected to the amp and it burnt the shit out of my finger. and idk about the power wire i didnt touch it.. but the sub amp always stays on.. so can someone help me out? as to why this could be happening?

only thing you will be able to do is replace the wire. the wire gets hot because it has a voltage drop

it is brand new one of those 4 gauge jl audio ground wires. u sure i need a new one? i have both hooked up to the same ground point one on top of the other and the other wire is fine...

either its got a bad voltage drop or you are using way too small of wire for the amp. do you have a dmm?

Did you sand around the grounding area to ensure metal to metal contact?

I just repaired an install where some joker used a drywall screw to hold down the ground wire.

and il check that because the other day i went over a speed bump and it jumped to protect for like a half a sec i forgot that happend.

Amps are wired the same whether you are powering a sub, a tweeter, or whatever.

Sounds like a bad connection somewhere, likely where its hot. Too much current trying to pass through too small a contact will heat it up, kind of like a fuse. I would look into it before any problems occur...

90% chance the connection is bad.

10% chance of overcurrent in the wire.
