Hey,

So i used a program on the net to help design a box for a single 12" FiQ sub http://www.subwoofertools.com/forum/ported-box.asp? It's supposed be 2 cuft and tuned to 28 Htz. So i used this design to make a 3D model of a box

hope you enjoyed that...

The dimensions are (outside) 35" wide X 14.5" high X 18" deep (thats about max size i can have) anyway what do you guys think about it? Think it would work? It's going into a trunk car with the sub and port facing forward.

Thanks

Baseballer1100: i dont know what amp i will be running since im still in the planning stages of my audio setup. Any suggestions? i was thinking like a hifonics amp, one that runs 1600 w RMS by 1 ohm....

PowerNAudio: Wow dude, straight up wow. Do you mind if take some of your design cues and use them? that box is straight up wicked. Whats it tuned to if you dont mind me asking?

update to my box, using some of the last guys ideas.... bracing and stuff...

I also moved the hole a little... not too noticeable though, anyone know about this design on box? does it work well?

PowerNAudio: why did you tune it so low? im just curious because i really dont know about tuning and why you tune to different frequencies. Does the sub have anything to do with it? And 24 Htz seems really low

Hey,

Just a thought, but all the boxes i see have only the one vent (i know that there are boxes with more but i havent seen them)

so what if i made a box with 2 vents that were half the length of the total vent length... like this one below.

I says to have a vent length of 78.5 or something (cant remember exact) so i used 2 vents that were like 39.25. This way the box looks more centered...

Is this ok or would it sound different than a regular box?

that wont work you can split the with or the hight of the port, but the length have to remain the same. to keep the desired tuning.

the reason for the low tuning on my enclosure is because the sub has the capabily to stay in control down to 24hz, so by tuning that low i get strong rock bottom bass. compared to tuning higher. is all about what youre looking to get out of the sub. i choosed to pull every bit of sound the sub has. so there for the low tuning will provide that low end bass.

it all depends what you want to get out of the system, if youre looking for SQ, i would tune it to the FS since its so low on it. if youre looking for SQL then a little higher so you can get more of a boost around 35Hz and above, and for spl even higher.

its all on what you want the system set up for. and what kind of sound youre looking to get out of the sub. i personaly want to get the most sound out of the sub as i can, since thats the reason you pay the amount of money you do for a high quality sub. i dont look for a loud system, i want a very accurate very musical and powerfull sound of off the sub. so i select the enclosure volume and tuning freq accordingly.
