Vacation in Miami Beach soon!

I've been waiting for this the whole year. 3 years ago, me and my gf when for a little 1 month trip in miami beach, florida. We had so much fun, that we had no choice to get there again before finish the university and getting a serious job.
But, this time will be different. Three years ago, we went there with greyhound, from montreal. It took almost 3 days.... that was long and for the most part of the trip, we were the only white people //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif Are black people a majority on the state east coast or was it because of greyhound background... anyway

This time, we'l be going with my accent 99 that got 170 000km ( 105635.99 miles )

under the hood. The car was inspect and is supposed to be reliable, but it's keeping me worried anyway

In the coming weeks, i'll be removing the sound system since it's worth way more than the car and i'm affraid the car could never come back/get stole... What are the chance of this budget car getting stolen in miami beach? I heard it was one of the worst place to park a car because of thieves, but i guess they won't care about a car that is worth 1k at top?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif will they?

Anyway the road will be long, so i,ll be putting a cheapo sound system without sub (only hu, a cheap power acoustic amp and alpine type r coaxial) since we got 30hour of road. Yeah i'm from quebec so that's a long way

I'm planning to do this in two days, 15h per day and sleeping in the car, at a truck stop or a flying J. Is this safe? what's the best place

How's the weather at night around north/sud Carolina? Will a blanket keep us warm enough to still be alive in the morning? I won't be renting anything since we already rent a studio on ocean dr. miami for three weeks and we spend all the year getting our money for it.

What's the gas price on the east coast? I'll be taking the 87 south, then joining the i95 down to florida. how does the paying road work? Do i need change for it or they give it back if you pay with bills?

If you have read this till the end i guess you had a lot of time to spare //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

as I do. Anyway could you help me out with my worries.

I'm french btw, that could explain the weird sentence structures and the grammar:laugh:

Thank for helping me out

NGGA! Hit me up.

In the Carolinas, it gets really cold at night. Like, REALLY cold. I'd bring a few blankets and a few sweaters, just incase.

As for the tolls, just bring a bunch of $1 dollar bills and a bunch of quarters. Like, $5 bucks in quarters and maybe $20 bucks in 1 dollar bills. You just have to stop at tolls and pay them.

And gas in Florida is about $1.83 in my part of Miami. But in the Beach it might be more expensive.

And as far as stealing... Unless you leave ish in your car, you should be fine, man. I have my full system and I don't hesitate to park at The Beach. You just have to be smart about it and park where there are normally people there.

There not gonna be evidence of anything on the car, no need to destroy it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
But what's the law about abandonned car?
Don't abandon it... give it away or something. Or sell it.

well if i'm in a hurry and my car break I won't be looking for a internet connection and a craiglist account //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

What about leaving it on a train track?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

What is cold for you? I wouldn't mind sleeping at 0 celcious under a big blanket with my winter coat and it's fur cap.

thank for the tollin' tips. I'll make sure i get some quarter at the bank

Yeah i'll get some kind of pass to park my car on ocean dr in a restricte area. but the car won't be moving often since everything in miami is near from the art deco area.

I'll be using it to get to the bankatlantic center and for the grocerys. I love the publix in miami beach. Nice place

Here is my 2 cents:

1) If you like driving, do it. Road trips are fun if you want them to be. Gas prices are cheap here in OH. Right now we are at $1.53 at the pump. I buy my gas at Kroger (supermarket) and get a $.20 discount, so I just paid $1.33 today. I think the highest you will find is $2.00.

2) Stay in a cheap hotel/motel vs sleeping in your car. Your body will thank you and you can take a shower. I think your GF will like to be able to have fun as well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif . You can find a Red Roof Inn just about anywhere for $35 per night. It will be to cold in your car as well. Just bring your stuff into the room with you at night so if your car is broken into, they can only steal your cheap HU.

3) No need to bring any food, liquor, or otherwise. It can all be found here cheaper and you won't have to worry at the border too much.

4) Park in a well lit area and your car will be fine. Especially because you have taken out the good audio and it is a POS now.

5) For tolls, keep 20 of US $1 and $10 worth (full roll) of US quarters. You should be able to get these at your bank in CA.

6) Police can only be found when you do not want them around. If you need help, you are sure to never see one. Expect to handle your safety on your own. This also answers your speeding question. You will be sure to find a cop if you do 10+ over the limit, which varies by state. Just keep your eye on the signs and keep up with traffic.

7) If you decide to fly back instead, leave the car anywhere you like. They will simply impound it and keep it. If you ever wanted it back, then it would cost you the tow + storage.

8) Have a blast! I wish I was going to Miami over the holiday.

P.S. Yes I am bored at work and have nothing better to do than help out a canuck.

... that doesn't help me with my anxiety //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif
Will a sharp knife do the job? Are you, american, all crazy like in the vacant movie?

I've heard that there were polices watching the truck/car stop place, is that true?
We're not all crazy, but there are some whackos. I wouldn't sleep at a rest stop.

Michael Moore says canadians don't lock their front doors. Is that true?

If Michael Moore said it then it must be true and i'm not a real canadian. I even lock them in my home parking

I think the motel will be a better/safer alternative... in the end
Btw Usa border agents aren't welcoming at all. Those on the canada side on the other way are nice.
they are nicer on our side. i went to the states a yr ago with my buddy and the border people searched my car for 2 hours. i dont have a record and my buddy goes down there all the time with his family. gl with the 15hr driving days....long *** time

oh, and i do lock my doors. moore is wrong. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

This is exactly what i don't want. Why did they choose you? Where did you cross the border? 2hours? **** they must have remove every panel inside the car

I don't want them to make me loose my time

Ok i'll be doing my last exam in few hours and then i'm off //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

The car was inspected by a friend and he told me to give a lot of oil to the motor. I have 3x 4.4 l in the trunk in case. He also suggested me to switch from 5w30 to something else when i'll be in the hotter climax. Is that accurate? What should i use?

Also can i call AAA even if i'm not a member in emergency case? like a nationnal towin' number?(i'll be paying for it tough) If not who to call on east coast?

How are the roads/weather atm on east coast?

Call CAA ask them if they are the same company. It also may be cold I go in the winter a lot and a few times it has been cold as shit.

Also when you go shopping our milk comes in packages like this not in a bag:

The closest thing we have to that would be AAA which is affiliated with the CAA if you have a membership.

The only other option for help would be to call 311, which is a non-emergency number to call local police.

This is what you need, american currency at the turnpike's and if i was you have all your ish for crossing the border in a folder upfront so you can just hand them what they need.

If your sleeping in your car,you can easily find a walmart, which all walmarts have security camera's and are all well lit,and usually 24\7 staff so you'd be the safest their.

And make sure you have your tires inflated properly and your spare. Don't wanna be out in the cold.
