Utilizing stock location sub... VW Golf R (MKVII)

My new Golf R has what appears to be a 6" 'Fender' subwoofer in an enclosure that resembles a spare tire. In the below link you can see pics and get dimensions. My questions is simple: Am I able to put in a decent 8" per the below dimensions? I'm not looking to set records, just something better than the **** Fender sub in there now. I'm open to ideas that don't include 'just getting a good custom box and quality sub". If I can't usefully utilize what I have, then no big deal.

Swap it with a shallow Alpine type R 8 ...It will be a night and day difference

They like about 350rms ...I may have an old school Alpine mono amp I can sale ...you'll want to get a dual 4 voice coil

A little polyfil would also help with the interior volume of that enclosure

Im putting a Critical Mass 10 in my Z/28 tomorrow and added stuffing to the box a little while ago...That always helps subs in smaller spaces
