using tones and olliscope for gains bad???

this is what i found just looking around the net...this guy is basically saying that the setting gain on amp tutorial is wrong..

what u guys think?

Poor article, IMHO.

Half of it simply isn't accurate. And what he did get accurate, he gave the completely wrong reason on why the information is accurate.

i don't see what's wrong with the article. i don't see many inaccuracies.

people use DMMs to optimize the amps for power without distortion. that's not always the goal. DMM is just a tool that can aid in setting gains.

speaker may be too loud @ DMM-set gain.

speaker may distort @ DMM-set gain.

yes. just a tool. not the be-all end-all basis for setting gains.
